Purpose of Role
The System Administrator at BAO Systems will be responsible for managing our a majority Linux-based systems, VM infrastructure, and DevOps processes. In addition, the role includes a strong focus on implementing security practices and addressing remediations. You will work closely with various teams to ensure the smooth operation of our IT environment, supporting both internal and client-facing applications.
Core Job Responsibilities
- Administer, configure, and maintain Linux servers to ensure system stability, performance and security.
- Manage AWS and/or private cloud infrastructure, including provisioning, monitoring, and scaling resources as needed.
- Implement and maintain DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, Git, and Ansible.
- Perform regular security scans and assessments, identify vulnerabilities, and implement appropriate security measures to safeguard systems and data.
- Manage and support the EKS, k8s, and related technologyes
- Automate routine tasks using scripting languages such as Bash & Python.
- Monitor system health and performance using monitoring tools and respond to incidents and outages effectively.
- Collaborate with development, security, and operations teams to improve system reliability and implement best practices.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for systems, processes, and security practices.
- Provide technical support and guidance to other team members and stakeholders.
Required Skills/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven experience as a System Administrator with expertise in Linux environments.
- Experience with AWS cloud services, including EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, and VPC.
- Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure as code.
- Experience with security practices, including vulnerability scanning, patch management, and incident response.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation (e.g., Bash, Python).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Certification in AWS, Linux, or Security.
- Knowledge of container technologies such as Docker.
