Position Summary:
The Field Service Technician is responsible for assisting clients with the installation, repair, and maintenance of equipment. This position is part of the service department. Some of the key duties of a Field Service Technician include troubleshooting equipment, advising customers on proper use, building customer relationships, and adhering to company procedures. This role works closely with the sales team to address customer needs. The duties outlined below represent the majority of the position’s responsibilities; however, due to the dynamic nature of the role, additional tasks may be assigned by the COO in response to evolving business conditions. While the ideal candidate should have a strong technical background, they must also be organized and methodical in both thought and action.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
• Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine proper solutions.
• Cooperate with all teams and share information across the organization.
• Troubleshoot and perform repairs and modifications on the mechanical, electrical, or software aspects of equipment at customer sites.
• Assist in the start-up, checkout, installation, and testing of new equipment.
• Create reports of the customers and machines serviced that day.
• Follow all the company's procedures.
• Instruct personnel at customer sites on the safety, proper operation, and preventative maintenance of equipment to improve efficiency of customer productivity.
• Other duties as assigned by management.
Minimum Qualifications:
• 2-year Mechanical or Trade School or 4+ years of in-field experience in service and repair of applicable products may be substituted.
• 5+ years field service experience requiring mechanical and electrical repair and troubleshooting.
• Knowledge and the ability to read and understand equipment manuals.
• Ability to use a variety of mechanical, electrical, and testing tools successfully and effectively.
• Experience with machine tool repairs (or similar).
• Must pass a basic mechanical and electrical assessment.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Working knowledge of computer applications including word processing, Excel spreadsheets and CAD software.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Knowledge of 3-D CAD software.
• Sheet metal and / or fabrication experience.
• Experience in training / instruction.
• Fluency in Spanish, French, or German.
