Program Manager - Thailand

The Organization

New Energy Nexus (www.newenergynexus.com) mission is to support entrepreneurs and start-ups who are building the breakthrough solutions that will solve climate change and provide clean energy to all. We are a fast-growing international organization founded in California to provide commercial, technology and financial support to new ideas and young enterprises in clean energy and decarbonization.

New Energy Nexus Thailand's goal is to become a self-sustaining local organization that will support entrepreneurs in clean energy innovation and decarbonization technology with services such as business consultation, investment readiness consultation, accelerator program, and startup pipeline building. We want to be a well-known catalyst for Thailand's carbon neutrality.

New Energy Nexus Thailand consists of 3 main sub-programs:

1. Startup Incubation and Acceleration are programs that supports new entrepreneurs in Thailand to developing clean energy and climate-related business ideas, bringing them to market, raising funds, scaling revenue, and evaluating climate impact. This includes our Decarbonize Thailand Sandbox program working on commercial partner and startup facilitation.
2. Workforce Development - Solar Capacity Building aims to increase the use of solar energy in Thailand's residential, commercial, and governmental buildings by focusing on solar rooftop EPCs and SMEs. We provide solar entrepreneurs with business skills training and coaching to help them expand solar energy adoption and achieve their business goals.
3. Ecosystem building and Community engagement such as university bootcamps, networking events. Through various programs we engage with prospective entrepreneurs and wider stakeholder groups on the benefits of clean energy entrepreneurship.

We're looking for a highly experienced professional to join our team who is highly motivated, passionate about climate change, thinks creatively, is data-driven, has great communication skills in both Thai and English, and has experience with business development and engaging strategic partners.

The Program Manager identifies and develops opportunities with local universities, entrepreneurs, non-governmental organizations, and corporations. The position is responsible for sustaining, expanding, and initiating New Energy Nexus's relationships with our stakeholders through our three primary sub-programs. This position provides you with the opportunity to collaborate with senior executives, startup founders, think tanks, and international organizations, while also assisting the organization's growth through new business development opportunities.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

1. Program Management (50%)

Participate and support the implementation of NEX programs and other ecosystem building activities.

Provide support and advice to startup teams in accelerator and/or incubation program cohorts on go-to-market and business development strategy.

Research, identify, develop relationship, and engage with investors in Thailand or outside Thailand to support entrepreneurs in our portfolio.

2. Team Capacity Building & Operations (25%)

• Manage program budgets, deliverables, and reporting
• Initiate, liaise and coordinate with relevant stakeholders (internal and external) to ensure that New Energy Nexus Thailand activities are well-aligned
• Coach and support other members of the team for success
• Provide support on other ad-hoc matters for organization and team development.

3. Fundraising & Partnership (25%)

• Research, identify, build a pipeline of funding partners from: 1. Government agencies, 2. Foundations 3. Private sector companies
• Understand their goals & objectives collaborate to develop to support programs for startups in clean energy and climate technology
• Scope out, negotiate and finalize partnership proposals from start to finish
• Represent NEX Thailand at conferences and events
  

Qualifications and Requirements

Minimum Qualifications

• Professional Thai Language skills absolutely required.
• Passionate about energy and climate startups and innovation!
• Minimum 6 years of professional work experience in clean energy or startup acceleration
• Business development or fundraising experience in Thailand and in Southeast Asia
• Strong program & project management experience with complex projects involving multiple external stakeholders
• Experience building and leading a team with the ability to work independently for a global organization with different locations and time zones
• Bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree in relevant field preferred.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Thai & English
• Existing or familiar with the network of relationships and contacts relevant to Thailand’s energy sector

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience as an entrepreneur or with the startup community, including incubators, accelerators, investors
• Strong professional network in the Thailand energy sector
• Management consulting experience is a plus
• Highly resourceful with the ability to come up with new ideas and concepts to design program

This is a full-time position, based in Bangkok, Thailand.
