Are you an experienced HR professional who’s passionate about fostering strong employment relations and enhancing a company’s employer brand on both regional and global levels? We’re looking for an organised and empathetic HR Manager to join our close-knit team.
This role offers the perfect blend of strategic and operational challenges. You'll be vital in shaping our employment relations strategies and policies, advocating for a workplace culture that aligns with our values, enhancing our employer brand, and ensuring every team member – from London to LA – feels supported and engaged. If you’re skilled at balancing global and regional HR needs and excited to create a supportive environment for every team member, we want to hear from you. This is your opportunity to play a pivotal role in a forward-thinking company that values creativity, collaboration, and personal growth.
We are Canvas8, a strategic insights practice with offices in London, New York, Los Angeles, and Singapore. We help our clients understand people so they can make better business decisions. Our work investigates the hidden insights in everyday life – from the psychology of boredom to teenage make-up rituals and why Barbiecore is a Gen Y thing – and makes them meaningful for brands.
Our team has a blend of disciplines and skills – from psychology to journalism and anthropology to behavioural economics. What unites them is a desire to understand people and a passion for delivering outstanding work.
As Canvas8's HR Manager, you’ll be the heartbeat of our dynamic workplace, leading the charge in HR policy, employee relations, and shaping our vibrant culture. You’ll manage everything – from absences and disciplinaries to parental leave – with a supportive touch and structured approach, while always championing our values. Your role will be crucial in overseeing onboarding and offboarding, maintaining and communicating progressive HR processes, and managing global employee benefits and sponsorships. You’ll be the HR champion for our diverse and talented global team.
In addition to handling day-to-day HR functions, you'll partner with our Senior Leadership Team to drive strategic initiatives and support our Diversity and Inclusivity Committee. Your role will involve both strategic and operational contributions, ensuring our HR practices are seamless across all regions and that every team member feels supported, valued, and empowered to succeed.
You’re passionate about helping people, socially aware, and personable, and you have excellent communication skills. You’ll be able to connect with the team and understand their challenges with patience and empathy, and you’ll find ways to improve their experience. You’re unflappable in the face of challenges, maintaining a positive attitude and continually striving for positive change.
Highly organised, you’re comfortable working independently, managing your time, and prioritising tasks. You understand the importance of being responsive and proactive when managing HR processes and implementing smart systems to streamline your day-to-day.
You understand the balance between being close to the team – building trust and meaningful relationships – and being able to follow and enforce our policies and employee handbook when required. You act with natural discretion, whether you’re managing salaries, dealing with sensitive issues, or building trust with employees and senior management alike.
Calm and confident, you don’t shy away from dealing with issues, speaking up on behalf of colleagues, mediating employee relations, or advising senior management on legal or policy development.
