Position Summary:
- The System engineer is involved in efforts for system integration and system development for the In-Vehicle-Infotainment systems while interfacing with OEM program team, partner suppliers, internal program team, and corporate product development team.
- Ensures that responsible features of the infotainment head unit perform at the optimal system efficiency and quality when the products are launched for market.
Responsibilities: - Lead and manage efforts on system integration involving server applications, smartphone applications, and embedded communication modules on the vehicle side.
- Responsible for ensuring that all the features of the infotainment head unit perform at the optimal system efficiency to reduce the processing time and increase reliability.
- Gain in-depth understanding of questions, concerns, and issues in order to get quick resolution from customers, partner suppliers, and corporate product development team.
- Track this information and report issues to related entities in appropriate format.
- Serve as the first point of contact for our customers, partner suppliers, and the corporate product development team regarding the design, specifications, testing and debugging of system integration.
- Ability to analyze existing external and internal object-oriented, embedded software to add features, make modifications, and/or port to different platforms.
- Provide proposals on functions, interface specifications, and application specifications as needed for continuous improvement concerning development efficiency, and quality/performance of the final product.
- Prepare proof of concept/working prototypes as part of architectural planning and development when necessary.
- Review and negotiate software related specifications and requirements. Identifies product requirements/ specification or performance issues.
- Prepare necessary documentation, material, reports, etc. for meetings with customers, partner suppliers, and corporate product development team.
- Monitor and track work progress of partner suppliers periodically and conduct design reviews to identify trouble and reflection at early stages for prevention of delivery delay and quality issues.
- Create and maintain system validation plan in cooperation with partner suppliers and corporate product development team.
- Perform system tests in accordance with validation plan and suggest opportunities for improvement at our head office.
- The job is not only limited to testing, it will also require regular paperwork, reporting, analysis, vehicle prep, and basic lab and equipment set up.
- Evaluation may include long drive for testing purposes which indicated that the position will spend extensive amount of time in vehicle for testing.
- Customer plant support during product launch; engineering support for Manufacturing as needed.
- Maintain awareness of technology and market trends relating to IT security, server applications, and smartphone applications in North America, and prepare reports as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications: - Experience with Infotainment system design and related technologies
- Minimum 5 years of experience in developing automotive electronics at a Tier 1 supplier for major OEMs (not required but preferable).
- Extensive working experience in automotive field focused on telematics services and products
- Experience in maintaining a quality system compliant with most recent automotive standards
- Experience with Infotainment system design and related technologies
- Experience with environment bring up of evaluation board for various SoCs (Qualcomm, Renesas, TI, etc.)
- Strong understanding and experience with OS (Linux, QNX), APIs, and web applications.
- Strong understanding and or experience with programing in C, C++, Java, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, Swift, Android, Cocoa Touch
- Certifications (One or more): PMP, ITIL, Six Sigma, ACP, APMG, DSDM, CSM
- Successful product development and deployment experience
- Familiarity with the technical implementation details of SXM, OTA, HMI, Bluetooth, USB, Wi-Fi, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Voice, CAN, and /or Navigation features within a vehicle
- Bachelor's Degree and above in Software/Electrical/System Engineering or related technical field
- Familiarity with automotive (OEM) specifications
- Excellent interpersonal/communication skills (Good presentation skills)
- Ability to effectively operate and communicate in a multi-cultural environment
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills in a fast pace development environment
- Experience in maintaining a quality system compliant with most recent automotive standards
- Experience with Infotainment system design and related technologies
- Ability to speak Japanese is preferred but not required
