We are seeking to hire an AVP/VP to support the Investment Group Office in portfolio construction, overall investment workflows and strategic projects. The individual should be highly independent and collaborative, with direct investment experience and strong commercial acumen and demonstrated excellence in prior endeavours. This role offers the unique opportunity to join a fast-growing and dynamic organisation in Singapore.
Role and Responsibilities:
Investment Group Office - Support the investment group through proactive management and continual enhancement of investment workflows (internal gates, independent risk assessment and IC / board approvals) and quarterly portfolio reporting processes
- Manage regular and ad hoc reporting of investment performance, projections and ongoing developments for Temasek and other stakeholders (ministries, agencies, board directors etc)
- Prepare regular updates to senior stakeholders (IC, Board, shareholders) with regards to investment group activities, investment strategy and other key portfolio developments
- Collaborate with Finance to track committed and deployed capital against divestments and distributions to ensure discipline in capital recycling and securing of alternative financing
Portfolio construction
- Support Head of Investments in calibrating portfolio allocation across different investment pillars (nature, technology, and carbon markets), modalities (equity, projects, funds), geographies and project type based on dynamic view of investment pipeline, projected returns and direct climate impact to achieve desired returns and impact
- Lead portfolio simulations and analysis of potential impact of market changes (interest rates, country risk, carbon pricing etc) and other idiosyncratic developments (methodological haircuts, registry delays etc) on portfolio returns / DCI
- Collaborate with investment directors to cascade changes in portfolio allocation to investment strategy and pipeline management / investment pace
- Work alongside Risk to track portfolio-level risk and incremental impact of new investments on risk / return curves to sharpen investment decisions in terms of quantum, timing and sequencing
Special projects
- Support Head of Investment and work closely alongside deal teams for critical projects e.g. high-stakes turnaround or crisis management, selective value creation initiatives, sizeable or FOAK transactions
Requirements:
- Minimally a degree holder with 6 to 10 years of experience, ideally with track record of growth capital investing or portfolio construction with leading financial institutions
- Analytical problem-solver who takes initiative and ownership of tasks
- Ability to understand the broader strategic context and to exercise sound judgment in carrying out day-to-day responsibilities
- High level of professionalism and personal integrity
- Advantageous to have a strong interest in the area of sustainability and topics relating to carbon markets, nature-based solutions and technology-based solutions for decarbonisation
