Part-time Usher (seasonal)

The St. Louis Symphony Orchestra is offering several part-time Usher opportunities as part of our Hospitality and Audience Experience team. Our Ushers are a vital part of the SLSO patron experience. Responsibilities consist of providing excellent customer service to all patrons inside the auditorium including support as they navigate to their seats and different parts of the venue. Additional responsibilities include distributing programs, providing basic information about the venue, assisting patrons with disabilities, ensuring SLSO policy compliance inside the auditorium, and overseeing the safety and satisfaction of patrons.

Applicants must have recurring availability on Friday/Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons. Daytime availability during the work week is appreciated for a small number of performances during the season (Tuesday-Friday).

Due to ongoing renovations at Powell Hall, concerts during the 24/25 season will be held at Stifel Theatre, Touhill Performing Arts Center at UMSL, and other area venues.

Starting pay for this position is $13.00 per hour (4-hour shift-pay minimum), including opportunity for growth into more specialized responsibilities with additional pay.

Requirements:

• Friendly, approachable demeanor and a passion for customer service

• Minimum 2 years customer service, retail, or other experience working with the public and/or large groups

• Regular availability on Friday/Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons (occasional weekday night shifts may be available)

• Daytime availability during the work week preferred for approximately 15 concerts during the season

• Ability to stand, walk and traverse ramps/stairs for periods of at least two hours

• Ability to resolve conflicts calmly and enforce the policies of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra

• High level of dependability

• Appreciation of orchestral music a plus
