Tech Intern at 42 Berlin

42 Berlin is a recently launched, disruptive higher education NGO/start-up educating up to 600 students to become cutting-edge techies and software engineers in a practice-based peer-learning environment.

42 Berlin is based on the internationally successful concept of Ecole 42 which was founded in 2013 in Paris and today trains 18k+ students in +50 schools.

Tasks

As a Tech Intern at 42 Berlin, you will support the Tech team in the maintenance and improvement of the 42 IT infrastructure and software development to enable 42 Berlin staff and/or students. This involves:

• Making our infrastructure and network more secure
• Development of a project based on your interests to achieve your learning goals and provide value to the school
• Deployment of new software and updates
• Improving the technical student experience
• Process optimization and automation. e.g. with Python and Ansible

Requirements

Essential:

• Candidates should have completed the Common Core at 42, or plan to complete it before the internship begins
• Right to live and work in Germany
• Fluent written and verbal communication in English
• Alignment with our values (inclusive and open-minded)
• Friendly, kind, helpful, proactive and flexible personality
• Interest in automation and solving technical problems focusing on reliability and maintainability
• Comfortable using MacOS and Linux (Ubuntu or Rocky)

Nice to have:

• Experience as a tutor or student helper
• Experience with 42 API
• Python, Bash Scripting, C/C++
• Automation with Ansible
• Knowledge of Cisco IOS CLI, VMware
