Responsibilities:
- Drive Team Productivity: Take responsibility for enhancing the productivity of your team. Demonstrate a genuine concern for the well-being and performance of your team and teams around you.
- Engineering and Management Expertise: As an engineering manager, you will combine your technical proficiency with effective management. Lead the pursuit of technical excellence while fostering the professional growth of your team members.
- Facilitate Product-Tech Collaboration: Promote seamless collaboration between the product and technical teams, starting with your engagement with product managers in your team.
- Outcome-Focused Leadership: Focus on yourself and your team to prioritize outcomes rather than activity, actively eliminating non-value-added tasks. Prevent busy work by diligently prioritizing the tasks your team is engaged in.
- Champion Engineering Best Practices: Establish and uphold engineering best practices within the team, such as Test-Driven Development (TDD), Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD), and Agile Methodologies. These practices are essential for improving product quality and reducing time-to-market.
- Enhance Lean and Agile Practices: Advocate for our organizational values and leadership principles to foster lean and agile engineering practices, refine processes, and boost productivity.
What you need to be successful:
- Engineering Background: Prior experience within the engineering field is essential.
- Team Leadership Experience: Demonstrated leadership expertise in leading engineering teams.
- Leadership Competency: Possess a leadership style that fosters trust within the work environment, provides clear direction, and empowers team members.
- Technical Proficiency: Display decent technical expertise to understand the technical ins and outs of a project and the associated issues.
- Comprehensive Knowledge: Possess an in-depth understanding of engineering principles and established practices.
- Mentorship Skills: Providing mentorship to engineers on best practices.
- Project Definition: Exhibit the capability to define project scopes, objectives, and success criteria in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Communication Proficiency: Fluent in spoken and written English to facilitate effective communication.
