Our reputation for quality and independence, outstanding networks and unrivalled location at the heart of Westminster makes us the ideal base to build a national profile for academic or policy research that makes real impact.  We are seeking a Senior Research Manager to join the Macroeconomics team. The purpose of the role is to lead and manage a team of researchers to deliver multiple concurrent research projects to a high standard and within agreed budgets and timescales. To proactively cultivate external networks and future sources of funding and collaborate in developing research proposals to achieve specified funding targets (individual and team).  The essential requirements we are looking for in the successful candidate are: Experience Designing and delivering multiple research projects and achieving high quality results in own projects while meeting tight deadlines and managing multiple competing priorities. Leading and managing projects and/or teams. Analysing and interpreting complex information to generate evidence-based conclusions. Communicating findings in a clear and coherent way to a range of audiences and able to demonstrate impact through the dissemination of findings. Writing proposals and bringing in funding for self and others, and able to demonstrate a high success rate. Collaborating with a range of stakeholders and working across teams/organisations to achieve specific outcomes. Constructively challenging the accepted ways of thinking/doing things, and thinking critically to develop new idea, approaches, and ways of working. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities PhD in economics or another relevant quantitative social science, or equivalent. High level research capability with extensive knowledge of a range of research techniques and methodologies; particularly quantitative, qualitative and econometric approaches. High level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information in an audience appropriate way, adapting your communication style to engage with a variety of audiences (including academic peers, funders, the media etc). High level of attention to detail, with the ability to ensure the accuracy of complex reports and data sets without the need for oversight or checking. Ability to develop senior external contacts to promote NIESR and influence/engage with potential funders. Demonstrable reputation for research expertise within a subject area with evidence of recognition of achievement for high quality research output.
