What you will be doing (role duties and responsibilities) Depending on your experience you will be responsible for the design and/or implementation of next generation or Generation after next concepts, equipment and algorithms. These are typically demonstrated through investigation, prototyping and trials activities. This will included state-of-the-art systems considering aspects such as RF front-ends, antennas, radio propagation, waveforms and algorithms, mechanics and environmental considerations. You will draw on range of previous practical experience in some or all of these areas, and be able to quickly expand your knowledge into new areas as appropriate for the task. You will be able to derive technical performance specifications from high level use cases, even if these are not well defined. You will be able to work well with customers and internal stakeholders to understand use cases and communicate ideas. You will be able to collaborate well with other technical specialists and enable them to contribute to the design process. You will also support the wider engineering teams as appropriate. What we are looking for (skills and experience) We are looking for ambitious, high-calibre people with the following background: Able to take technical responsibility for complex problems and suggest practical approaches. Good inter-personal skills; able to work well in a dynamic, collaborative team with a diverse skillset. Practical experience across one or more (not all) of the following areas: RF electronics (any bands, low frequency to Terrahertz). Analogue and Digital Electronics (Discrete components through to System on Chip). Digital signal processing (GPP, DSP and/or FPGA). Position Navigation and Timing (GNSS, Visual or RF related). Radio communications systems and protocols (including waveform design). Any of the following skills would be complimentary not essential: Comfortable working on multiple projects at the same time and in a dynamic environment where deadlines and priorities are changeable. Proven record of designing and delivering real-world systems. Technically rigorous approach, typically backed up by a strong academic background. Practical experience of delivering solutions to real world problems. Familiarity with a R&D environment either commercial or academic. Familiar with commercial modelling and simulation tools. Working knowledge of one or more software languages (including MATLAB, C, C++, Python, VHDL, Simulink). We would urge applications from those with partial coverage of the skills listed.
