Medscape, a division of WebMD, develops and hosts clinical portals and related mobile applications that make it easier for healthcare professionals to access clinical reference sources, stay abreast of the latest clinical information, learn about new treatment options, earn continuing medical education credits, and communicate with peers.The role We are looking for someone with excellent proofreading and editing skills to join our Global Content Development team. The successful applicant will be appointed to one of three levels of role, depending on experience: Associate Medical Editor, Medical Editor, or Senior Medical Editor. The successful applicant will report to the Head of Content Development and will be the in-house editorial lead on a variety of educational and promotional projects funded by pharmaceutical company clients. The Global Content Development team works on global projects funded through arm’s-lengtharrangements and also on projects directly commissioned by clients for a UK audience. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to work on a range of multimedia project types, including videos, animations, digital and printed supplements and articles, and working party meetings of healthcare experts to agree new best practice clinical guidance.Key responsibilities will include:commissioning and liaising effectively with key opinion leaders in the healthcare industry to produce high quality content copy editing, rewriting, and restructuring content as necessary for all types of projectfact-checking and proofreading all types of project content at all stages to ensure accuracy of copy writing copy: for example, author briefsensuring compliance with the ABPI Code of Practice working with freelance medical writers and facilitators communicating with pharmaceutical company clients, working closely with the sales team, account managers, and project managersattending internal and client set-up meetings and teleconferences to discuss the objectives of the project first-hand with the clientdeveloping and maintaining an understanding of various client brands and disease areassupporting more junior colleagues to manage more complex projects and programmessupporting the Head of Content Development with improving processes.Essential skills and experienceExcellent development editing, copy editing and proofreading skillsExcellent attention to detailExcellent time management, project management, and organisational skillsStrong communication skills, both written and verbal Life science degree (or higher), with an understanding of disease area terminologyOther useful experiencePrevious experience of medical editing, medical communications, medical education, or publishing Previous experience of interacting directly with clients Previous experience of working with global experts in secondary careUnderstanding of secondary care topics, such as oncology Knowledge of Adobe InDesign Knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and the ABPI Code of Practice Experience of using online approval systems (e.g. Veeva Vault PromoMats)LocationThe role may be based in either Chesham, Buckinghamshire or Central London.
