TEAM
Arene's vision is to enable the most programmable vehicles on the planet. The Vehicle Platform team develops and delivers the next generation in-vehicle software platform that can host applications ranging from automated driving to in-cabin experiences. The team collaborates with global partners to design, implement, and test processes and procedures, review software designs for testability, and support overall verification and validation activities. Building safe and secure software tools and platforms for next-generation Toyota vehicles requires the Arene Systems Engineering team applies engineering expertise to ensure delivery of safe and secure software products. The Arene organization is growing and we are establishing an engineering center in Palo Alto, CA and Ann Arbor, MI to strengthen our global team.You will report to the Manager, and this role's workplace type is hybrid - you will work in the office at least 3 days per week.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a team lead who are passionate about making driverless vehicles come true and are excited to work with us to create a better future for mobility. Daily tasks include the development of automated driving middleware software . The ability to lead an engineering team of around 10 people is essential. Daily tasks include leading a team of around 10 people, delivering the release and quality promised to customers, and developing the product yourself. Conversations with customers are important. Controlling customer requirements and schedules is the most important part of your job.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead a team to develop and release our SDK middleware
  • Lead solutions to non-clear technical issues surrounding our own products and setting the future direction for team members
  • Take responsibility for and assist in the personal development of team members
  • Develop features of framework tools and in-vehicle software in an Agile fashion, and improve functionality

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience leading a team of software engineers, preferably in a safety-critical domain such as automotive, aerospace/defense, robotics, etc.
  • 7+ years of software engineering experience using C++ and Python.
  • Experience with embedded systems and resource-constrained computing environments
  • Expertise with a wide range of computing architectures (SoC, MCU, CPU)
  • Experience in multi-threaded software design and delivering large software to customers.
  • Proficient/fluent in English and Japanese business communication

NICE TO HAVES:

  • Experience in hardware/software co-design in the ADAS area. Handling of camera and other sensor data and CAN signal handling.
  • Knowledge of performance and memory efficiency programming.
  • Experience in computer science(algorithms, data structures, computational complexity), Operating System( especially embedded OS), automotive embedded middleware(e.q. Autosar)
  • Experience in production in-vehicle software. In particular, it is a plus to have a perspective on software and functional safety, which is granted ASIL as defined in ISO 2626.
