This position is responsible for overseeing the facility, maintain security and compliance with Coast Guard, Army Corps of Engineers, federal and state and local regulations. He/she is responsible for the integrity of the barge fleets and any fleeted vessels.
Pay Type: Salary
Pay Range: Starting at $40,000
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Adhere to all company policies
- Follow company’s safety guidelines
- Perform general repairs as needed
- Follow directions
- Be able to visually inspect
- Work around operating equipment
- Utilize eye/hand coordination
- Use/knowledge of hand tools
- Work well in a team environment
- Operate machinery
- Assist boats as they deliver/pickup barges
- Inspect all arriving barges for water and damage
- Batten/pump all leaking barges and report to operations/barge maintenance
- Maintain an accurate log of arriving and departing vessels
- Assist with fueling, oil changes and bilge from towboats
- Maintain the fleet
- Log all fleet inspections
- Check the loaded and empty fleets a minimum as conditions demand.
- Ensure that the barges in the fleet display, at night and in periods of restricted visibility
- Check the dock and fleeted towboats at least twice per shift or more as conditions demand
Experience
- Use of hand tools
- Knowledge of river landing and fleeting operations, required
- Successfully working in a team environment
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years old
- High School Diploma or GED, preferred
- Reliable transportation
- Regular and punctual attendance
- Effective communication is required
- Must be able to work safely and effectively as part of a team or independently
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), required
- Must be able to successfully pass a post offer drug test and background check
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship
JOB SCHEDULE AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Must be able to work overtime, weekends and holidays as needed or as schedule requires (subject to applicant’s religious practices)
- Must be able to work rotating shift schedule (subject to the applicant’s religious practices)
- Ability/willingness to work any shift assigned
- Ability to lift floor-to-waist and waist-to-overhead
- Ability to push/pull as needed
- Standing, bending, step climbing, crawling and working overhead
- Ability to perform heavy labor and lift 50+ pounds as needed
