Washburn Center for Children serves almost 4,000 children ages 0-18 and approximately 9,000 family members each year. Washburn Center’s three office locations – Brooklyn Park, Edina, and Minneapolis – serve the entire Twin Cities metro area. The nonprofit also offers in-home services, and its school-based program serves 50+ schools in the Eden Prairie, Bloomington, Minneapolis, Savage, Burnsville and Eagan school districts.

Position Summary
The Columbia Heights Anchor program is a blend of mental health services and individualized education. Our School-based Therapist will provide embedded classroom services and school-based mental health assessment, treatment, and prevention services to children and families as well as consultation and training for school staff at the elementary school within the Columbia Heights School District. Provide both direct billable services and non-billable training, consultation, and early intervention/prevention services. Participate in meetings and coordination with Washburn Center and school teams. Collect and assess data on client progress. Independent Licensure at LICSW, LPCC, LP, or LMFT required. Skilled in children’s mental health diagnostic assessment and treatment.

This role is a highly collaborative function, and you will experience exposure to all programs at Washburn Center, working in collaboration with a variety of experienced professionals to ensure the best care for the children and families in your care.

RESPONSIBLITIES

Clinical Treatment - Clinicians will provide a combination of the following school-based services within the school, clients’ homes, and across the community, as agreed upon with the school staff and the Washburn Center supervisor, including:

a. Facilitate social skills groups
- facilitate social skills group in the classroom setting as defined by student's IEP; Setting is self-contained classroom with up to 8 students (2 groups daily).

b. Provide individual and family Therapy
- Conduct diagnostic assessment
- Develop and implement a treatment plan with the family based on a diagnosis
- Engage parents and families in the learning space or therapeutic process with a culturally responsive framework
- Participate in IEP meetings
- Care coordination, including collaboration with psychiatrists and other professionals working with the child
- Create a discharge plan
- Build a positive and engaging social and emotional learning environment that also embraces pluralism and multiculturalism

Ancillary Services - Clinicians will also provide ancillary services as agreed upon with the school staff and the Washburn Center supervisor, including:
- Provide care coordination, including collaboration with parents, school staff, and other agencies
- Participate in classroom observations
- Provide teacher consultation and training
- Attend collaboration and planning meetings with school staff, program directors, and grant coordinators to review the status of the program and manage referrals to facilitate program development and the coordination of the program at the school

Documentation - Clinicians will be expected to maintain required documentation as specified in our Clinical Policy Manual, including:
- Diagnostics assessments
- Treatment plan for each client
- Completion of progress notes
- Completion of required outcome instruments
- Discharge summaries
- Timely record keeping of all clinical activities and grant related services as defined
- Timely response of communications from the program director, the supervisor, or program support to ensure clear communication throughout the program
- All clinicians are to ensure Minnesota and HIPAA data privacy requirements are followed.

Supervision and Professional Development - Clinicians are expected to:
- Attend weekly supervision and team meetings, present case information and formulation, and identify questions for team meetings and supervision
- Receive regular clinical supervision as required under Rule 29
- Provide clinical and administrative supervision for interns as approved by the program supervisor based on licensure and experience and assist with providing training, feedback, and learning experience for program interns
- Maintain required CEUs


Education. Licensure and Experience

  • Master’s degree in psychology, marriage and family therapy, or social work
  • 2+ years assessing, diagnosing and treating children and families
  • Valid MN Licensure as a LGSW, LICSW, LPCC, LP, LAMFT, LMFT or MA/MS working towards LPCC

  • Ability to work independently
  • Understand when to ask questions
Salary bracket:
$60,000 - $80,000
(Salary is based on several factors including but not limited to independent licensure status, work experience and education)

Vacation:  Paid Vacation accrues at 10 hours of vacation per month - up to 15 days / 120 hours annually.
Sick Leave:  Paid sick leave accrues at 6.68 hours of sick per month - up to 10 days / 80 hours.
Holidays:  There are 2.5 days/20 hours of floating holidays per year in addition to the eight standard holidays.
