About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Theatrical Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role, you will support the financial operations for our shows and venues, working closely with internal stakeholders and external accounting firms to ensure smooth day-to-day accounting processes. The ideal candidate has exceptional attention to detail and organisational skills, is an excellent communicator, and excels at managing tight deadlines. Previous experience on a theatrical production or in live entertainment is required.

As a Theatrical Accountant, you will be responsible for key tasks from show and venue payroll, pre-production and operating cashflow, and investment management to processing invoices and payments, always ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. Your responsibilities will extend to supporting the creation of key financial reports, including weekly show accounts, quarterly group accounts, and investor reporting.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and possesses a proactive, problem-solving mindset to every task.

Please note: this is a contract position with the potential to become a full-time role. Expected working hours are up to 40 hours per week. Qualified candidates must be based in the greater London area as some office time will be expected (around 2 days per week in the office).

What You'll Do:

  • Oversee daily accounting administration related to the show and venue, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial regulations
  • Collaborate with external accounting firms, supporting their efforts on accounting, tax matters, and producing both weekly show accounts and quarterly group accounts
  • Manage payroll administration for shows and venues, including the management and calculation of holiday pay
  • Process and approve invoices and payments efficiently and accurately, maintaining strong relationships with vendors
  • Prepare quarterly investor reports and assist in the preparation of materials for board discussions
  • Support the financial budget process, helping ensure alignment with company goals and production needs
  • Assist with the statutory audit process, working closely with auditors to provide necessary documentation and insights
  • Work with Producers to set up SPVS and show financing structures, and refine show financial models
  • Plan, setup, coordinate and manage external production finance functions
  • Advise and plan show cashflow, reserves management, and payments to investors and royalty holders

We're Looking for Someone With:

  • Proven experience in a finance or accounting role, with experience in a theatrical or live entertainment setting
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, payroll, tax compliance, and budgeting
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to collaborate with external accounting firms and communicate effectively with internal teams
  • Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving, with the ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
  • Bonus: Experience with investor reporting and board material preparation
