Public Prep offers a competitive salary commensurate with experience, qualifications, and internal equity. The salary for this position starts at $60,000. Primary Function & Position Overview

The Student and Family Affairs Manager is a key member of the Student and Family Affairs Team who provides team members with the support required for the Student and Family Affairs office to run efficiently and effectively to provide support  for all stakeholders.  

The Student and Family Affairs (“SFA”) Manager reports to the Director of Student and Family Affairs (DSFA). The SFA Manager works to support the school-wide  and office systems and routines that provide a safe and healthy learning environment.  The SFA Manager will help to manage systems to reinforce explicit and high behavioral expectations for students, families, and staff by ensuring fidelity to the Public Prep Family Handbook and Staff Handbook through clear and frequent communication.

Duties & Responsibilities

Management

  • Participate in regularly scheduled like-position meetings, and individual meetings with the Director of Student and Family Affairs to ensure the school’s successful implementation of best practices, and shared, mission-aligned professional development.  
  • Ensure smooth operation of the Student and Family Affairs Office with clear systems and routines that support students, teachers and families as well as data analysis that supports school wide initiatives and communication to all stakeholders. 
  • Consistently models and  follows all school and network policies and procedures. 
  • Respond to student send outs and low level behavior infractions and logical consequences.  
  • Manage family communication systems  
  • Support attendance and Kickboard data entry.

School Culture

  • Model the Core Values of Public Preparatory Network at all times; be a visible and highly engaged member of the school community. 
  • Attend and support  recognition assemblies, family workshops, school-wide culture-building activities.  
  • Support a school culture of high behavioral expectations that enables a consistent focus on academic results
  • Maintain visibility and actively support throughout the school during greeting, breakfast, lunch, recess,  hallway transitions, and dismissal to gain insight about student behavior, fidelity to procedures, and to reinforce expectationsSupport the implementation of the social-emotional framework.
  • Support with documentation and system management.
  • Support the school as directed by the Principal/Director of Student and Family Affairs

Students Supports

  • Teach and practice conflict resolution with students. 
  • Manage low level student send-outs.

Community Engagement

  • Follow a consistent schedule for availability during arrival and dismissal. 
  • Support structures that establish families as partners including the Community Council, Family Conferences, classroom presentations, family workshops, and school-wide and network wide family events during and after school. 
  • Support outreach to families to encourage active participation in the Community Council, school events, and family educational programs. 
  • Collaborate with the operations team and School Leadership Team to plan school-wide events’ logistics.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university
  • A minimum of one (1) year of teaching and/or counseling experience preferred, ideally in a high-performing, urban school setting
  • Deep expertise or desire to become familiar with the literature on social-emotional learning, adaptive mindsets, positive behavioral interventions, character development, and adolescent psychological development (possible examples include, but are not limited to: relevant presentations or publications, documented experience giving professional development, etc.)
  • Exceptional ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and solve issues in a complex and fast paced environment
  • Proficiency in general computer skills (experience with student information systems;PowerSchool or Kickboard)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Fluency in Spanish, preferred
