We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, forward thinking Sr SAS Programmer to support the Enterprise CSC (Collaboration and Support Center Manufacturing) excellence group and GP Decision Analytics group. This role supports data scientists developing custom Machine Learning and AI Analytics solutions across 150+ facilities in SAS platform. GP CSC and the Decision Analytics Group functions as a Center of Excellence for all things related to Manufacturing and Commercial Transformation for all of Georgia Pacific. These groups create sustainable value and competitive advantage by leveraging Analytics, Information Technology, and actionable insights across the Enterprise while focusing on futuristic possibilities of Analytics. This role will have the opportunity to leverage the latest Big Data, AWS Cloud, strong partnership with SAS Institute to collaborate with our Operations, Engineering, and Data Science community to expand Modeling and decision-making capabilities focused on asset health, asset optimization and process optimization. A Day In The Life Typically Includes:
SAS Developer:
- Work on complex AI models where analysis of code or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors for better performance and execution.
- Establish best practice guidelines for development, testing, promotion of SAS projects/AI models and Gitlab repository for cross functional data scientist teams.
- Participate in design and SAS code reviews.
- Perform stress tests to make sure code is production ready.
- Promote SAS code through QA and Prod environments
- Mentor and train junior data scientist in SAS programming skills and SAS platform usage
- Recognize potential system opportunities or issues during data transfer/predictions and collaborates with data scientists or other IT groups as appropriate
- Capacity planning for new demand and infrastructure resources
- Collaborate with SAS Technical Support on issue resolution or enhancements
- Lead automation of model building, system monitoring tasks to drive AI/Ops
What You Will Need:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering (preferably Analytics, MIS, or Computer Science). Master's degrees preferred
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, agile, innovative environment with rapid experimentation and fail fast mentality.
- Data Concepts (ETL, near-/real-time streaming, data structures, metadata, and workflow management)
- 8+ years of SAS programming experience with SAS Studio, SAS Enterprise Guide and SAS Visual analytics
- Understanding of API concepts
- Experience in SQL programming
- Knowledge of SAS 9.4 and up. Willing to learn SAS Viya 3.5
- Self-starter that can work under minimal direction in a highly collaborative, team-based environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent troubleshooting skills. Creative/inquisitive, lifelong learner that takes ownership and drive resolution with customer focus in the forefront.

- Programming / Scripting (Python, Shell) experience
- Code Management Tools (Git/GitHub, TFS)
- Knowledge of Data Analytics in AWS platform
- Experience in manufacturing domain a plus
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum/Kanban/DevOps methodologies and software development principles
- SAS Viya experience
- SAS Certified
