OVERVIEW
We are seeking a native Spanish (LatAm) speaker to join our team as a Terminologist. This role involves providing Spanish (LatAm) designations for a conceptual termbase, focusing on terms related to parts, engines, motors, and technologies used in modern trucks and buses. The ideal candidate will ensure the English definition is the basis for creating/establishing the terms in in their native language and locale as well as the accuracy and consistency of terminology across the termbase. The Spanish (Mexico) terminologist will also use the English (US) terms for reference as well as English (UK) and Spanish (Spain) designations. The terminologist should be able to support the terminology choices with the market validators who will review the Spanish (Mexico) designations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Terminology Management: Develop and maintain the Spanish (LatAm) termset in a multilingual terminology database for terms related to parts, engines, motors, and technologies in modern trucks and buses.
  • Translation and Localization: Provide accurate Spanish (LatAm) terms, ensuring cultural and technical appropriateness.
  • Standardization: Ensure consistent use of terminology across different components.
  • Research: Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in the automotive sector, particularly in trucks and buses, to ensure the terminology database reflects current standards and practices.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to gather input and feedback on terminology usage and requirements.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Linguistics, Translation, Terminology Management, or a related field. A Master's degree is a plus.
  • Terminology Management: Proven experience in terminology management, preferably in a professional setting or specialized industry. Familiarity with terminology management principles, processes, and tools is required.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of database management, data entry, and file management processes.
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong understanding of terminology specific to the automotive industry, with an emphasis on trucks and buses part denominations and technologies. Understanding of HIM and driving assistance technologies.
  • Research Skills: Proficient in conducting terminology research using various resources, and ability to validate and verify terminology accuracy and relevance.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy and precision in terminology management.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, subject matter experts, and stakeholders. Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
  • Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to analyze complex terminology challenges and provide effective solutions.
  • Terminology Tools: Familiarity with terminology management software and tools is preferred. Experience with database management and file organization is advantageous.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize them effectively, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
