We are hiring a full time Senior Technician - Brain Slice Preparation to join our Neuroscience team. As a Senior Technician, you will play a vital role in the scientific progress of our research program.
Key Responsiblities
- Consistently prepare healthy acute hippocampal and cerebellar brain slices for neural-tissue investigations.
- Create preparations for downstream rat slice electrophysiology experiments and related neural tissue analyses.
- Assist with solution preparation and downstream tissue sample processing.
- Efficiently coordinate and communicate with Neuroscience team members on a daily basis.
- Develop, refine, and troubleshoot surgical protocols.
Required Qualifications
- You’ve completed graduate training or have an undergraduate degree in a STEM related field.
- 3+ years experience performing rat surgeries, including acute hippocampal and sagittal cerebellar slicing.
- Experience with acute cortico-striatal or colliculo-thalamocortical slicing in rats is preferred.
- 3+ years experience with rat tissue sample collection/analysis, including cryostat sectioning.
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot surgical and experimental issues, and have excellent documentation skills.
- Strong communication skills and a desire to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
