Meeting Street Schools – Jasper & Beaufort (MSJB) is a pioneering tuition-free public charter school serving Jasper, Beaufort, and Hampton Counties in South Carolina. Founded with a commitment to ensuring that all students have access to high-quality education, regardless of their socio-economic background, we believe in a holistic approach to learning that focuses on the whole child. We currently serve students in grades K-2 and will be adding a grade level each year.
THE ROLE
The Student Enrollment Recruiter will play a crucial role in increasing student enrollment by reaching out to families in our
area.This individual will develop and implement strategies to effectively recruit and support prospective students and their families, ensuring they have the information and resources they need to make informed decisions about their education.

RESPONSIBILITIES, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS
Community outreach
- Implement tactics for reaching families with young children in Jasper & Beaufort counties, to promote the value of MSJB
- Approach people, either at their homes or in public places, to initiate discussions about the exceptional educational opportunities offered at MSJB
- Attend community events and informational fairs to meet families and promote MSJB
- Execute off-site presentations, tabling events, and other activities to promote MSJB
- Establish partnerships with local organizations (e.g. daycares, housing authorities, community centers, youth groups, libraries, parent networking events, community organizations, conventions, festivals, retail establishments, etc.) to spread information about MSJB
Student recruitment
- Build and maintain relationships with local community leaders, organizations, and cultural institutions
- Organize and participate in community events, such as fairs, festivals, and school-based events, to promote our programs and engage with potential students and their families
- Collaborate with local media outlets (Spanish-language newspapers, radio stations, etc.) to increase visibility and awareness of our enrollment opportunities
- Conduct informational sessions, workshops, and school tours in English and/or Spanish to provide families with detailed information about enrollment processes and educational opportunities
- Motivate families to enroll their students in MSJB
- Generate leads, from gathering contact information for prospective families, to following up with them and inviting families to tour the MSJB campus
- Call, email, and text prospective parents encouraging them to submit applications
- Track and analyze data to inform strategy and tactics
Family enrollment assistance
- Provide personalized assistance to prospective students and their families throughout the enrollment process
- Address questions and concerns in a culturally sensitive manner, ensuring that families feel welcomed and supported
- Offer follow-up support to maintain engagement and assist families with completing the enrollment process
Data Collection and Reporting
- Track and analyze recruitment efforts and their effectiveness, ideally, use data to refine strategies and improve outreach
- Maintain accurate records of interactions with prospective families and report on recruitment progress
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in community outreach, or recruitment
- Strong relational skills and experience building relationships across lines of difference
- Bi-lingual (Spanish - English) capacity ideal
- Demonstrated multi-cultural competence and humility
Experience and Skills
- You are family-centered and have experience and/or are interested in working directly with caregivers, extended family members, and students
- Strong ability to build and maintain positive relationships with community members, families, and school staff
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills - able to explain information clearly and answer questions in a friendly, approachable manner
- Comfortable giving presentations and leading informational sessions, including in Spanish
- Strong ability to keep track of multiple tasks/deadlines and manage time effectively
- Good at keeping records/data entry, following up with families, and ensuring that all details are handled smoothly
- Experience planning and managing events, such as community fairs, informational sessions, and school tours
- Able to adapt to changing needs and priorities, and handle a variety of tasks and challenges as they arise
- Track record of meeting high expectations and accomplishing goals even in the face of obstacles
COMPENSATION
This is a part-time, seasonal, field-based, position that will require local travel throughout Jasper, Hampton, and Beaufort counties.
Compensation will be contingent upon performance (similar to commission-based roles).
Coordinators will be compensated a base rate of $35 per hour.
Coordinators will be compensated $50 for every qualified lead* verified by a member of our school team, and an additional $50 for every student that completes registration.
*A qualified lead is a parent/guardian/family that has a school-aged child, grades K-2, eligible to attend MSJB. To be eligible, a student must be 5-7 years old by September 1, 2024 and reside in the geographic service area of MSJB. Qualified leads will be verified using contact information collected by the Recruiter. A member of the MSJB team will call the lead to confirm that they have a student eligible to attend MSJB.
**An enrollment is defined as an eligible student who has completed the registration process to begin school at MSJB in the fall of 2024. The family must complete all necessary forms and submit documentation required by MSJB and the South Carolina Public Charter School District to complete registration.
