Payroll Manager

Description 

The Payroll Manager EMEA is responsible for overseeing the payroll process, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with local legislation across multiple regions. This role involves training and coaching the payroll team to maintain the necessary knowledge and skills required to execute payroll effectively.

 

Organiaational position

The Payroll Manager reports directly to the Group Controller. The role oversees two Payroll Specialists.

 

Scope 

In house payroll:

NL: Global View (ADP) - Approximately 700 employees

UK: Dayforce (Ceridian) - Approximately 250 employees

 

Third party payroll: 

Germany: BDO - Approximately 180 employees

Dubai: TMF - Approximately 45 employees

Sweden: BDO - Approximately 8 employees

South Africa: BDO - Approximately 5 employees

 

Main responsibilities

 

• Payroll Agency Relations: Manage relationships with payroll agency partners, regularly communicating to ensure alignment with policies, procedures, and contracts, meeting legal and business requirements.

Result: Ensure contracts comply with legal and business requirements.

• Process Optimisation: Continuously optimise payroll processes and support the implementation of new systems to enhance efficiency and reduce the risk of errors.

Result: Increased efficiency and reduced error rates.

• Compliance Management: Stay updated with local laws and regulations, ensuring payroll processes remain compliant, reducing the risk of errors, data breaches, or non-compliance.

Result: Adherence to legal frameworks and data protection.

 

Training and experience requirements

• 7-10 years of experience in a similar role with global payroll responsibility
• Degree in Finance/Accounting, preferably supplemented with PDL or VPS education
• Comprehensive understanding of payroll best practices and ability to explain pay slips in detail
• Experience with payroll processing in the Netherlands and across EMEA
• Knowledge of Global View and Dayforce systems (a plus)
• Proficiency in Dutch and English
• Familiarity with relevant Dutch laws and regulations
• Understanding of the financial aspects of payroll, including reconciliation to Balance Sheet and P&L
• Proficient in using Excel for analysis and reporting.
