Position Summary
Berkadia is a leader in the commercial real estate industry, leveraging cutting-edge technology to drive innovation and efficiency. Our Cloud and Infrastructure Technology Team is at the forefront of this transformation, ensuring our technology infrastructure is robust, secure, and scalable.
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Engineer with solid networking experience to join our dynamic team. This role involves managing and optimizing our cloud and on-premises network infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity across our 50+ remote offices and 2 data centers. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with cloud platforms (AWS and Azure) and a deep understanding of emerging technologies and industry best practices.
Responsibilities
Essential Duties (Primary Responsibilities) include the following.
- Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure across cloud platforms (AWS and Azure) and on-premises environments.
- Manage and optimize global network connectivity, ensuring high availability and performance.
- Configure and maintain virtual networks, VPNs, DNS, load balancers, and security groups. Ensure optimal network performance and security.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and deploy network solutions that meet business requirements.
- Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure minimal downtime, identify issues, and implement improvements to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Implement security measures to protect network infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities. including identity and access management, data encryption, and network security protocols.
- Automate network tasks and workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to keep Berkadia at the cutting edge of network innovation.
- Develop and manage IaC scripts using tools like Terraform or CloudFormation to automate cloud infrastructure deployment and management.
- Experience in CI/CD Pipeline technologies such as Azure Devops and Jenkins
- Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to cloud infrastructure and networking.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of cloud infrastructure configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Partner with the Enterprise Operations Teams to inform on new standards/best practices/policies.
- Must exercise effective judgment and follow established procedures in support of production, including on-call rotation for critical environments.
- Provide 3rd level operational support for end users as necessary.
- Assist with other IT projects as needed or directed.
Travel Expectations
Minimal domestic and international travel required (10-20%)
Work Location
This role may be required to be onsite within a Berkadia office or designated location periodically at the request of the manager for things such as meetings, training or events.

Qualifications
Qualifications to perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the experience required.
- Cloud Network Solutions: 5+ years of experience managing cloud network solutions on AWS and Azure platforms.
- Global Network Design: 8+ years of experience designing and supporting a global network.
- Proven experience with major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Hands-on experience with networking technologies, including VPNs, DNS, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and tools.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash) are a plus.
Technical Skills:
- Switching:
- Proficiency in Layer 2 and Layer 3 switching.
- Experience with Cisco and HP/Aruba switches.
- Routing:
- Expertise in BGP and OSPF protocols.
- Knowledge of static and fallback routes.
- Wireless:
- Experience with Aruba Access Points and Aruba Airwave.
- Network Access Control (NAC):
- Proficiency in 802.1x for both wired and wireless networks.
- Experience with Aruba ClearPass.
- FortiGate Firewalls:
- Skills in firewall policy management, routing, and SD-WAN.
- Experience with internet load balancing, policy routing, VPN, FortiManager, and FortiAnalyzer.
- F5 / BigIP:
- Expertise in server load balancing.
- Cloud Networking:
- AWS:
- Experience with Transit Gateway, VPC, Security Groups, DirectConnect, and NLB.
- Azure:
- Proficiency with Route Server, vNet, ExpressRoute, and AppGateway.
Soft Skills:
- Communication & Organizational Skills:
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with both management and peers.
- Collaboration:
- Proven ability to communicate and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, including business analysts, developers, data engineers, data scientists, and subject matter experts.

Preferred Education
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Preferred Previous Experience
- Seven to ten years prior experience in a similar position.
- Certifications such as AWS Certified Advanced Networking, Microsoft Certified: Azure Network Engineer Associate, or equivalent.
- Experience with container orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Familiarity with monitoring, and alerting tools.
