Our Opportunity:
The Payroll Analyst is responsible for ensuring the Company’s ongoing compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. This individual is responsible for analyzing, researching, and resolving issues and addressing related payroll accounting inquiries. This individual may also work with partners in Accounting, Human Resources, Third Party Vendors, and other internal departments on various initiatives.
What You’ll Do:
- Serve as an escalation point for complex payroll accounting issues.
- Prepare and complete post-payroll tax reconciliation file each cycle for various entities.
- Responsible for timely and accurate posting of all payroll-related journal entries for month end close in accordance with the organizations' month end close schedule, policies, and procedures.
- Monthly reconciliation of all payroll liability accounts with a deep understanding of payroll transactions.
- Performs maintenance on payroll updates and is responsible for testing new or changed payroll functionality, providing detailed design and program specifications.
- Create and maintain complex reports from Workday and other systems.
- Execute corrections to employee’s records.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of projects and system testing.
- Assists in setting goals for department around objectives and projects.
- Maintain and help drive innovations and execution to support accurate and efficient day-to-day operations.
- Act as a mentor to other payroll team members, providing training, support and guidance on projects, tasks, and troubleshooting.
- Ability to initiate and lead conversations to drive payroll projects and issue resolutions, including directing work of team members.
- Ability to identify complex issues and demonstrate curiosity to investigate and resolve.
- Research laws and regulation changes and how they affect the payroll system and processes.
- Support Payroll management and team members with projects and other tasks as required.
What You’ll Need:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field. An appropriate combination of education and work experience will be considered.
- 3+ years related experience processing high volume, multi-state payroll for a mid to large size company.
- 3+ years related experience in payroll tax.
- Hands on and strong knowledge/experience with ADP Smart Compliance, Workday, and KRONOS.
- Understanding of federal and state regulations related to salaries, wages, taxes, benefits, and other payroll related matters required.
- Understanding of payroll accounting.
- Consistently achieves goals by prioritizing work and resources appropriately.
- Superior organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
- Hybrid model with possibility for remote
- Advanced Microsoft office skills (Excel, Word)
- Able to work independently.
- Able to work in a high growth environment under tight deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and able to work collaboratively.
- FPC or CPP certification preferred.
