Environment, Health & Safety Specialist

What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

• Serve as the EHS contact and resource for Scout office locations, the Scout Innovation Center, Scout Connection Centers and related field activities within the US
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve EHS programs for R&D, aftermarket and field activities
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement policies, procedures, and practices appropriate for risks, hazards and conditions at assigned locations
• Conduct risk assessments to ensure risks and hazards are identified and mitigated
• Own and manage PPE, Life Safety and safety equipment programs for assigned locations
• Establish and monitor curated training programs for specialized work such as vehicle testing, automotive high voltage battery work and service programs
• Assist with site selection for new locations and serve as the primary contact for the real estate team for EHS matters
• Ensure new sites are launched on-time and in compliance with applicable permits, programs and equipment
• Maintain environmental permits and waste management activities for assigned locations in coordination with the Environmental Compliance team
• Maintain OSHA recordkeeping and other documentation for assigned locations
• Facilitate occupational telehealth and remote ergonomic services
• Work closely with Benefits, People Team and Risk & Insurance for light duty, return to work and other programs
• Respond to incidents, lead/participate in investigations, learning teams and communicate as appropriate
• Other duties as assigned

Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events regularly. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Novi, MI. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.

• Bachelor's degree in health & safety, engineering or related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
• 6+ years of experience in EHS
• 2+ years experience supporting geographically dispersed locations, preferred
• 2+ years experience supporting R&D, preferred
• 2+ years experience with on and off-road vehicle operations, preferred
• Experience in the EV automotive industry is highly desired
• Working knowledge of federal, state and local environmental, health & safety regulations in the US
• Basic knowledge of DOT regulations as it pertains to driving activities

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $100,000-$120,000
