Coordinator, Student Services and Mentorship supports the delivery of student wrap-around services and leads the development of the Mentorship Program, including recruiting, screening, matching, monitoring, and supporting the relationship between the mentor and the mentee throughout students’ academic journey. Reporting to the Executive Director and supporting the Management Team, the Coordinator will carry out the responsibilities of the position as defined below:
Mentorship Program
- Research and evaluate various mentorship platforms and make recommendations for most suitable solution for the program.
- Lead the implementation and management of the new platform.
- Perform and oversee participant screening, training, matching, support and supervision, recognition, and closure activities.
- Develop, maintain and update the program’s marketing materials, policy and procedure manuals as needed.
- Distribute program marketing materials and deliver presentations to targeted organizations and at key community events.
- Create and oversee implementation of an ongoing mentor recruitment plan.
- Develop and manage relationships with schools, alumni, corporate and community-based partners.
- Oversee inquiry and orientation process to ensure excellent onboarding experience for both students and mentors.
- Manage the planning and implementation of mentor/mentee group events (e.g., bowling trips, pizza parties, end-of-year events).
- Plan and implement recognition activities for program participants.
- Develop and oversee program evaluation reports and activities.
Student Services
- Coordinate student support services as per the scholarship program guidelines and respond to students’ inquiries from pre-selection through graduation.
- Support and contribute to the new students’ orientation and on-boarding activities.
- Support the Student Success Team and assist with designing surveys, reports and monitoring the quality of the students’ academic experience and progress.
- Coordinate the internship job placement opportunities.
- Support the administrative functions of the team to enhance the student experience.
- Manage and update student records in the database system.
- Provide regular program update reports and recommend future improvements.
- Attend special events and personal development workshops and conferences to increase knowledge of student services, mentoring program and best practices
- Maintain a proactive communication with all members of the team to ensure student success
- Contribute ideas and content supporting overall awareness and marketing efforts
- Complete other duties and activities as needed.
Desired Skills and Experience
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience with a focus on social work, psychology, education, or a related field, with a strong interest in student affairs and student development theories.
- Two or more years of experience working directly with postsecondary students, with a preference for experience in mentoring, student development, or youth programs in a post-secondary environment.
- Comprehensive knowledge of mentoring program policies and procedures, ideally within a higher education setting.
- Strong proficiency in CRM systems for data input, management, and report generation, with a focus on tracking student engagement and outcomes.
- Excellent organizational, writing, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to connect with diverse student populations.
- A flexible and creative approach to taking on significant responsibilities, with a commitment to continuous learning and professional growth in student affairs.
- Experience working with students from racially, ethnically, and socioeconomically diverse backgrounds, particularly within postsecondary or urban community settings, is preferred.
