Summary of Responsibilities
The corporate accountant’s primary responsibility is obtaining revenue by processing invoices, resolve missing payments, and handling customer and internal account inquiries. The corporate accountant is also responsible for general ledger accounting activity for internal departments as well as consolidated financial statements. This position interacts heavily with various levels and departments within Avenue5.
Primary Responsibilities and Objectives
· Prepare and review journal entries, ensuring costs are in appropriate categories
· Manage and maintain all financial transactions related to accounts receivable
· Manage setup and maintenance of customer accounts
· Prepare and audit monthly charges
· Prepare weekly AR summaries, collection summaries and distribution of aged receivable reports
· Ensure timely recording of payments and deposits
· Collaborate with other departments to gather financial information
· Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations
· Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required
· Experience in Yardi and OneSite or other equivalent system is preferred
· Working knowledge of GAAP
Skills and Requirements
· Intermediate level knowledge with MS Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel (including pivot tables, formulas and IF statements)
· Intermediate understanding of accounting/financial/economic principles is required
· Ability to read and comprehend financial statements
· Detailed oriented and desire to learn
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to work independently and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
· Ability to perform advanced mathematical and accounting functions
· Ability to follow and apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is required
· Strong organizational and time-management skills
· Ability to multi-task and make quick and effective decisions
· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to relate to others
· Required to complete and successfully pass the Avenue5 Fair Housing and Preventing Discrimination and Harassment training and other courses if assigned
Scheduling
· Typically, normal business hours which may require working outside business hours and weekends
· Ability to travel as required (5%)
· Travel mostly overnight and may require weekends
Environment
· Exposure to environment typically found in an office building
· Frequent exposure to airports, airplanes, rental cars, hotels, etc.
