Job Title: Project Controls IV (NWS CL0001)
North Wind Services is actively seeking individuals who can contribute to national security within the science, technology, and engineering fields as part of our supplemental labor team at vital federal research and development installations supporting the federal government. Successful candidates will be employees of NWS, a premier government contractor charged with employing highly motivated and well-qualified personnel who can advance the missions in Los Alamos, NM Though employed by NWS, the employee will take day-to-day direction from technical personnel employed directly by the client. Pay, benefits, Human Resource, and Employment Management functions are provided by NWS.
North Wind Services has an opening in Los Alamos, NM for a Project Controls professional to support the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Project Controls System. Responsibilities include performing cost estimating, analysis, and control activities, and identifying trends for management attention. The successful candidate also involves supervising schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities, as well as preparing and reviewing cost engineering and planning activities. This position entails supporting project organizational and administrative activities, providing innovative solutions to cost engineering and schedule guidance, and ensuring work is completed as scheduled.
Essential Duties
- Support the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and Project Controls System.
- Perform cost estimating, analysis, and control activities.
- Supervise and provide technical direction for cost engineering and planning/scheduling activities.
- Identify trends for management attention.
- Supervise schedule development, maintenance, and monitoring activities.
- Prepare and review cost engineering and planning activities.
- Provide innovative solutions to cost engineering and schedule guidance.
- Ensure work is completed as scheduled.
Essential Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of twelve years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain DOE Q Clearance.
- Experience in performing, monitoring, and reviewing planning and scheduling functions.
- Knowledge of cost engineering functions, including cost estimating, cost control and financial reporting systems.
- Supervision, personnel administration, and training experience.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
-Proficiency in using personal computer operating systems and discipline-specific software applications.
- Intermediate understanding of project controls technical skills.
- Subject matter expertise in project controls, project management, and engineering functions (for Control Account Managers).
- Expert-level knowledge of Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) tools and processes.
Special Requirements
