As a Principal Performance Engineer, you will be responsible for understanding of the Protegrity products’ and how their performance evaluations had been designed and carried out. You must have fair knowledge of computer science, and excellent problem-solving skills with reference to computer software and parameters related to software performance. In your day-to-day work, you will be a working with Manager/Director Product Performance Engineering and other members in the team and will involve in close interaction with Developers, Quality Assurance, Product Owner, Scrum Master and DevOps teams. You will be responsible to develop performance evaluation scope, enhance or modify current performance evaluations as per requirements, execute or get tests done and will involve in troubleshooting the products for their performance areas. You will technically lead and guide the team members for their work in the team. You also will be required to engage for understanding, evaluating and engage in resolving performance issues coming in from customer environments. You will also involve for any product release product performance verifications and reviews.

Responsibilities:

  • Expert hands on with Linux Shell Scripting and computer system monitoring
  • Technically guide the team members on work, improvements and interactions.
  • Should have expertise in understanding of application programming and computer systems.
  • Must have experience in writing programs using any of the programming languages C/C++/Java/Python etc.
  • Knowledge with best understanding of modern computing concepts like Cloud, Containerization and micro-services. Fair understanding of AI / ML.
  • Familiarity to containerization platforms (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Fair knowledge of OS and services.
  • Provide technical leadership to the team with interacting cohesively with all stakeholders. Guide the team for overall performance engineering functions.
  • Must remain current in industry and technology best practices and trends, or solutions.
  • Act as performance subject matter expert, leveraging knowledge of specific product performance challenges and opportunities to build trust and respect within and outside the team.
  • Understand multiple use cases for the Protegrity product portfolio.
  • Adherence to and application of Protegrity legal, compliance, risk, business continuity and administrative policy within the role and department(s) including the timely completion of training, work, affirmations and testing as requested. 

Qualifications:

  • BE or BTech in Computer Engineering degree with 8-10 years real full time on the job experience in software product performance preferably for a software product company.
  • If entire experience is not in software product performance engineering, need to specify the type of experience separate and clearly with the number of years, but major experience is preferred to be in performance engineering. 
  • Strong computer system and operating system acumen & experience in working with various software products and technologies for evaluating and enhancing performance of software products.
  • Strong knowledge of technology and how to apply technology to solve the customers business needs across products and technologies used.
  • Excellent listener with an aptitude for problem solving, evaluating, experimenting and deductive reasoning skills.
  • You can level up to the bigger picture and have knowledge of architecture and solutions as well as overall release goals, while digging into the details when required.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and an aptitude for improvements in product performance and its various aspects.
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong internal, external relationships for the team.
  • Work in an efficient environment to research, automate and troubleshoot performance related work for Protegrity products.
  • You will need to develop a fair understanding of the overall architecture of the product and be valued member of the performance engineering team with required cross-functional interactions.
  • Be able guide the team for scope for performance evaluation of the products for a feature or the release; and get it executed till the final product performance evaluations and reports.
  • Oversees a variety of product performance cases from start to finish. Offer technical support and guidance to performance team members with analysis and outcome. Able to cordially interact with stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of Data Protection, Privacy and Security.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with good understanding of computer science.
  • Good Knowledge and experience with operating system like Linux/Unix.
  • Strong willingness to research and explore technologies in and around a product and its performance evaluations with improvements for performance.

Working Model:

  • This role is available as fully home-based and generally would require you to attend on-site meetings only occasionally based on business needs. In certain circumstances the work model may change to accommodate business needs.
