Chooose builds software to enable the lower carbon fuel value chains in hard-to-abate sectors.

Companies like Alaska Airlines, Air Canada, Delta Air Lines, and Flexport use the Chooose platform to build, operate and scale their SAF programs, and to advance voluntary and compliance carbon initiatives.

With offices in Oslo and Miami, and remote employees across the US and Europe, we are a mission-oriented team that is scaling our business and climate impact in tandem. The company has raised $50M from leading venture capital and strategic investors.

As VP of Engineering you will assume full responsibility for our engineering organization, its people, processes and general performance. You’ll ensure high quality software is delivered, at pace, according to company goals. You’ll build on the CHOOOSE engineering culture, and maintain CHOOOSE as a place where the best engineers want to work. This role reports to the CTO.

What you'll do

  • Manage a growing engineering team of 20+ to deliver a high standard of engineering excellence.
  • Be accountable for the scalability, performance, and reliability of our product.
  • Mentor the team, and roll up your sleeves and pitch in where needed.
  • Collaborate with the Executive and Product Management teams to define and execute the technical vision for Chooose, aligning this vision with the company's overall goals.
  • Bring strong opinions about what can be made better.
  • Work to develop a technical brand outside of the company, with a strong emphasis on recruiting the best engineering talent in Norway.
  • Partner with PeopleOps to deliver a high quality employee experience.

What you'll bring to the table

  • Commitment to product and technical excellence
  • 5+ years of software development experience as a high-performing individual contributor building enterprise software
  • 3+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles within fast growing companies
  • Experience leading teams responsible for building and growing enterprise products
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, capable of adapting style to different audiences and stakeholders, both internally and externally representing the company in front of customers and potential investors
  • Master's degree in Computer Science or similar
  • Located in or near Oslo, Norway
The interview process

At Chooose, we prioritize transparency throughout our interview process. After reviewing your application, if your qualifications align with our needs, we’ll begin with 1-2 introductory conversations where you'll have the opportunity to discuss your experience and learn more about our company. The next phase involves a series of in-depth 1:1 and panel discussions. These sessions will explore your technical expertise, leadership approach, management style, and more—ensuring a comprehensive evaluation of your fit for the role. The entire process typically takes about 4-8 weeks. While we strive to adhere to this timeline, occasional adjustments may occur to allow enough time for both sides to fully get to know each other.

Pay, perks, & more

We offer a competitive salary, the option to participate in our employee equity program, flexible work hours, and access to 'Spaces' coworking space. Come join a fun and supportive team dedicated to advancing climate solutions and tackling significant challenges.

We value diversity and believe forming teams in which everyone can be their authentic self is key to our success. We encourage people from underrepresented backgrounds and different industries to apply.
Compensation will be based on experience and skill, commensurate with market rates, and will include both salary and equity in Chooose.

Chooose is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate based on race, color, religion (creed), gender, gender expression, age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, or military status. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment to our employees and welcome input from candidates and employees on how we can enhance our inclusiveness.

Prerequisite for Employment: Chooose may request to conduct background checks on prospective applicants to verify the information provided in the CV, transcripts, and other documentation. This background check may be carried out by our partner and will not be conducted without the applicant's prior consent. Prospective applicants will receive more information about this.
