Job Description Welder/Metal Fabricator
Responsibilities:
* Fabricate and/or modify metal parts and components from blue prints or 3D data.
* Use saw, shear, metal brake, oxygen/acetylene torch, grinder and other fabrication equipment.
* Read and understand blue prints and schematics.
* Select proper equipment and set voltage and wire feed settings.
* Weld from a variety of positions to obtain proper strength and appearance.
* Participate in meetings, projects and activities in support of company and team goals.
* Maintain proficiency in relevant knowledge skills and in the use of equipment applicable to the position.
* Accurately and timely accomplishment of core responsibilities listed below and as assigned.
* Required to communicate (verbal and written) with customers, engineers, management and technicians to convey relevant information in a timely manner
* Understand and apply appropriate policies and procedures relevant to the position.
* Maintain clean and safe work area.
* Be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Other tasks which are within the scope of this position.
Requirements:
* Previous welding and metal fabricating skills preferred.
* Experience welding using Tig & Mig equipment. Experience with breaks, shears, and other metal forming tools preferred.
* Experience utilizing basic hand tools.
* Follow blueprints & layout specs - study blueprints & Bill of Materials (BOM) to determine material requirements & task sequences
* Experience welding, steel, stainless, aluminum and their alloys, from 10 ga to ? and greater thicknesses.
* Must pass our welding test.
* Familiar using calipers, tape measures, and other standard measuring equipment.
* Experience using forklifts, cranes, and the physical ability to lift and move items weighing up to 50 pounds
* CAD/CATIA experience preferd
* Basic computer skills required.
* Basic math skills - Ability to interpret the metric system
* Maintains welding & related equipment
* Monitor the fitting, burning & welding processes to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion or expansion of material
* Examine completed work pieces for defects to ensure conformance with specs
* Setup & operate fabricating machines, such as brakes, shears, flame cutters, grinders & drill presses to bend, cut, form, punch, drill or otherwise form & assemble metal parts
* Water jet cutting experience preferred.
* Locate & mark work-piece bending & cutting lines allowing for thickness, machine & welding shrinkage & other part specs
* Positive manner of performance, team player, good written and verbal communications skills. •
