Ultrasound Technologist Position Summary:
This position performs general diagnostic ultrasound testing such as Abdominal, OB/GYN, and small parts examinations as well as peripheral and abdominal vascular exams. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment, and for performing and communicating findings of diagnostic examinations using sonography as appropriate. The Ultrasound Technologist is responsible for daily operations of the ultrasound lab, patient schedule, equipment maintenance, the report of equipment failures, and quality assessment. The sonographer maintains a high standard of medical ethics at all times and is self-motivated to pursue lifelong learning to increase level of understanding and knowledge of the field, disease, and new procedures as they evolve.
A Day in the Life of a Radiologic Technologist at MyMichigan Health:
(60%)* Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations according to defined imaging protocols.
(20%)* Provides ultrasound guidance for biopsies/aspirations.
(20%)* Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the ultrasound technologists care.

A 139 licensed-bed hospital located in northeast Michigan on the shores of Lake Huron, Alpena's first community hospital opened in 1915 as the Donald ClientRae Hospital. It served until 1939, when a petition was passed to build a new public hospital. On April 16, 1940, a new 88-licensed bed hospital opened called Alpena General Hospital. On April 1, 2016, Alpena Regional Medical Center joined MidMichigan Health, making it the fifth Medical Center in the MidMichigan Health system.
