Job Overview
We are seeking an Electrical R&D Technician to evaluate, assemble, and maintain electrical systems for our fast-paced R&D team. As an Electrical R&D Technician, you should be able to read electrical system design plans and recommend improvements, as well as calibrate instruments and diagnose faulty equipment.
Responsibilities
- Assembling, evaluating, testing, and maintaining electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, PCBs, and wire harnesses
- Troubleshooting and repairing malfunctioning equipment, wiring, and PCBs
- Constructing and fabricating parts, using hand tools and specifications
- Reading and interpreting electrical and electronic circuit blueprints, diagrams, and schematics
- Ordering of electrical supplies and equipment
- Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment
- Capable of providing direct feedback to the engineering team
- Contributes to team effort by reliably accomplishing all related tasks as needed, and always keeping an eye out for new ways to support the team
- Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using appropriate tools and testing instruments
- Repairs and maintains electrical systems and minor mechanical systems
- Plans electrical system additions or modifications
- Ensures proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promotes continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
Qualifications
- Minimum High School diploma
- At least 4 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified
- Understanding of electrical distribution systems
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics and other electrical diagrams
- Ability to use appropriate tools and diagnostic equipment to repair, install, replace, and test electrical circuits, equipment and appliances
- Able to lift 50 lbs
- Ability to diagnose and repair electrical controls, industrial motor control centers, and programmable logic controllers
- Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures
- Ability to install and maintain motors, welding equipment, lighting fixtures, generators, circuit breakers, and transformers as appropriate to the position
- Project planning, schedule and cost estimation
- Strong safety mindset and experience, including hands-on experience planning and conducting hazardous or critical operations
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
