Job Summary
Teaching Assistants (TAs) play a critical role in teaching ~25-30 learners (as part of a larger class) in Correlation One’s virtual Software Tester training program. The TA commitment for our program will be for the duration of 25 weeks from Mon Sep 30 2024 - Wed April 9 2025. TAs will be expected to support synchronous sessions as well as provide asynchronous support to Fellows to ensure their comprehension and learning.
Program Specific Information:
- Program launch date: September 30, 2024
- Lecture cadence: Weekly on Mondays and Wednesdays, 12:00pm - 2:30pm ET
- Program finale: April 9, 2025
- TA responsibilities would be needed up to a month after the program for office hours/exam support
Key Responsibilities
- “Full-Time” TAs are required to participate in all live lectures, providing helpful and fast responses via Slack, as well as being prepared to host breakout rooms as needed.
- “Part-Time” TAs are not required to participate in live lectures, but otherwise have the same responsibilities as Full-Time TAs (more below)
- Provide 6 hours of individual office hour sessions for Fellows each week. You may set these hours within our parameters at your availability and convenience.
- Work with fellow TAs and Lead Instructors on ways to improve the learner experience
- Host review sessions or other support mechanisms to ensure the progress and satisfaction of your Fellows.
- Grade your Fellows’ submissions, providing feedback and ongoing learning support.
- Acknowledge and respond to Fellow messages in a timely manner
- Attend weekly, live TA syncs as set by your manager
Who you are
- As a Software Tester Teaching Assistant, you are a passionate advocate for education, possessing a strong foundation in software testing practices and principles. With a keen eye for detail and a commitment to excellence, you thrive in supporting instructors and students alike in understanding complex software testing and deployment concepts. Your dedication to continuous learning and staying updated on the latest technology trends positions you as a valuable asset in preparing students for success.
Your expertise
- 1 year of experience in the software testing, SDET, or QA field (or another related field)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript, with hands-on experience in building test automation frameworks and scripts.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum) and testing practices (e.g., unit testing, integration testing, API testing).
- Experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Appium, TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber, or similar.
- Certification in SDET or related areas (e.g., ISTQB, Agile Testing, AWS Certified Developer)
- English AND German, Spanish or Italian highly preferred
Where you are
- This role is remote and can be located anywhere that is compatible with the EST time zone. We are headquartered in New York City and have office space in Midtown Manhattan.
Compensation
- The compensation range for this position is specific to location and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions. These factors include (but are not limited to) location, experience, education and skill sets. A reasonable estimate of the current rate for this position is $28-32/hr. Please note that the shared rate is specific to the United Kingdom and Europe.
