TEAM
Arene's vision is to enable the most programmable vehicles on the planet. The Vehicle Platform team develops and delivers the next generation in-vehicle software platform that can host applications ranging from automated driving to in-cabin experiences. The team collaborates with global partners to design, implement, and test processes and procedures, review software designs for testability, and support overall verification and validation activities. Building safe and secure software tools and platforms for next-generation Toyota vehicles requires the team applies engineering expertise to ensure delivery of safe and secure software products. The Arene organization is growing and we are establishing an engineering center in Palo Alto, CA and Ann Arbor, MI to strengthen our global team.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for engineers who are excited about enhancing the user experience of our in vehicle "cockpit" interface, and providing the best development environment for in vehicle app developers.
You will:

You will report to Sub Function Lead of Cockpit SDK, and this role's workplace type is hybrid - you will work in the office at least 3 days a week.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop software for IVI (In-vehicle infotainment) and IC (Instrument cluster) systems
- Implement (Designing, Coding, Testing, and Bug Investigating) backend services for IVI and IC system
- Maintain build system (yocto/bitbake) for backend services
- Create documentation for maintenance and operations
- Contribute to OSS community
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3+ years of hands-on experience developing embedded software using C/C++, including object-oriented design, debugging, and testing
- Proficiency in developing software on Linux platforms
- Experience with CI tools like Jenkins and Github Actions
- Familiarity with real-time, distributed, and parallel computing
- Proficiency in English
NICE TO HAVES:
- Proficiency in developing operating systems or device drivers
- Familiarity with automotive or embedded processor architectures, such as ARM and x86
- Understanding of vehicle software standards, including AUTOSAR, MISRA, CERT, and the ISO 26262 standard for automotive functional safety
- Experience with the Yocto/BitBake build system
- Proficiency in developing In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) systems or instrument clusters.
- Experience in developing safety-critical or hard real-time applications
- Proficiency in Japanese is a strong plus
