Position Summary:
The Lead Software Engineer is a key player on a development team, using an Agile development model in a fast-paced and innovative environment. The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for leading the team through influence by providing technical guidance and direction, mentoring junior team members, and collaborating and communicating cross-functionally to create and deliver technical solutions to meet Product and customer needs.
The Lead Software Engineer will be tasked with maintaining a legacy, .NET full-framework, application that is being re-built in a modernized .NET stack. The Lead Software Engineer will also be an integral part of the modernization team, leading the team and assisting in Scrum Ceremonies.

- Consistently leads a development team, through influence, by providing technical guidance, feedback, and direction that aligns with Product and business requirements through coaching and mentoring
- Demonstrates ability to produce guidance and suggestions to Product and business partners
- Exemplifies ‘One Team’ mindset and overall strong communication to drive collaboration cross-functionally with engineering, product, and business departments
- Maintains and holds the team accountable to standards of software quality by establishing good practices and habits that align with company development standard and architecture input
- Skilled ability to develop and coach partners for improved and sustained performance
- Shares ideas and recommendations on architecture, system design, processes for continued squad development and performance improvement
- Provide recommendations to development of new code, redesign, or reuse of existing code
- Independently performs code reviews that follow Truckstop's published standards and practices and that are recognized by their team as helpful
- Skilled at providing and receiving both constructive and positive feedback
- Improve code structure and architecture in service of testability and maintainability
- Creates, maintains, and refines documentation that is easily consumed by others, skilled at clearly documenting design and concept ideas
- Ability to articulate complex technical topics for non-technical audience
- Improves the development experience at Truckstop by enhancing development tools, test coverage, and/or code structure
- Proactively influence squad communication and team dynamics to accomplish the tactical mission of the squad
- Strong debugging and diagnostic skills
- Design solutions that align with business and IT strategies and comply with the organization's architectural standards
- Implements code that is clear, concise, tested, and easily understood by others
- Is responsible for the entire lifecycle of their code: development, test, production, and subsequent fixes and improvements
- Recognized as a domain expert in a specific domain both technically and from a Product perspective
- Demonstrates expert understanding of SDLC and recommends process improvement
- Maintain knowledge of new technologies and industry best practices; engage team resources to utilize best practices.
Position Requirements:
- BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related discipline with minimum of 8 years of related experience
- Previous leadership experience a plus
- Experience maintaining legacy front-end with .NET full framework
- Understanding of object-oriented principles and software design pattern
- Understanding of responsive web apps using HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
- Understanding using CSS preprocessors such as SASS
- Understanding of modern front-end JS frameworks and libraries specifically Angular
- Understanding with C#, Asp.Net / Asp.Net core, Entity framework
- Understanding of Ad-Hoc SQL queries, Transactional Queries, and Stored Procedures
- Understanding of TDD and JS testing frameworks like Jest / Karma, Protractor/ Cypress/ Selenium
- Basic knowledge integrating apps with RESTful API’s or GraphQL
- Understanding Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, or other cloud services a plus
- Understanding of API development using Node.js or Asp.net core, AWS lambda, serverless, API Gateway a plus
- Understanding of Microservice Architecture a plus
