The Web Presence team is a hybrid group of designers and engineers who are responsible for delivering high-quality web experiences that support HashiCorp’s go-to-market efforts. This includes a variety of websites like hashicorp.com, developer.hashicorp.com and more. For many of HashiCorp’s customers and users, the Web Presence team delivers their first experience with the company so it’s crucial we set high standards.
About You
The Web Presence team is looking for an experienced Engineering Manager who is passionate about creating scalable web systems, growing and mentoring their team, and delivering valuable business results. In this role, you will report to Kaitlynne Fuery, Senior Manager, Web Presence.
You care about your team members and communicate with humility, curiosity, and kindness. You are comfortable and experienced working with other teams, including design, product marketing, and growth marketing. You understand the constraints and possibilities of the web as a medium, with experience in a B2B SaaS context being a plus.
You have a strong background in web development and have worked within a web system before. You care about design, strive for consistency, and advocate for data-driven decisions. Additionally, you care how one user journey flows into another regardless of domain.
Being able to understand marketing and go-to-market motions is important, as the Web Presence team’s work is a key expression of HashiCorp’s marketing strategy, contributing directly to the sales pipeline, product adoption, and revenue.
Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5 web engineers - providing guidance, performance feedback, and career development support.
- Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of web projects, ensuring they meet quality standards and deadlines.
- Work closely with designers to ensure seamless integration of design and functionality in our web system. Partner with marketing teams to align web solutions with marketing strategies.
- Provide technical leadership in web development, architecture, and best practices. Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in web systems.
- Implement and optimize development processes to enhance efficiency, collaboration, and quality. Identify and address bottlenecks and technical challenges.
- Ensure the team adheres to coding standards, conducts code reviews, and follows best practices for testing and deployment.
- Communicate project status, risks, and opportunities to stakeholders. Ensure transparency and alignment with business goals.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in web development and at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
- Experience working with and building web systems to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Experience developing a vision and technical strategy that aligns the team’s efforts with business objectives and sets the team up for long-term success.
- Experience using research to test and validate assumptions to inform decisions.
- Understanding of WCAG 2.2 Level AA accessibility standards.
- End-to-end experience leading and owning large, multi-stakeholder web projects.
- Proficiency in web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and relevant frameworks (e.g., React or NextJS).
- Strong understanding of design principles and experience working closely with designers to bring creative visions to life.
- Familiarity with marketing strategies and the ability to align web projects with marketing goals.
- Proven ability to lead and inspire a team, manage performance, and foster a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and solution-oriented mindset.
Nice to have:
- Familiarity with DatoCMS or other headless CMS
- Comfortable navigating modern digital design tools (e.g., Figma)
- Experience with content design and content strategy practices
- Experience collaborating with non-technical audiences
- Familiarity with infrastructure management and cloud concepts

Individual pay within the range will be determined based on job related-factors such as skills, experience, and education or training.
The base pay range for this role in the SF Bay Area / NYC area is:
$153,000—$180,000 USD
The base pay range for this role in Seattle Metro, Denver / Boulder Metro, New York (excluding NYC), Washington D.C., or California (excluding SF Bay Area) is:
$136,300—$160,400 USD
The base pay range for this role in Colorado (excluding Denver / Boulder Metro) and Washington (excluding Seattle Metro) is:
$123,900—$145,800 USD
