Director, Global Inventory Management
Worksite Location: Onsite in Chandler, AZ - 4 days a week hybrid schedule
Job Summary:
The Director of Global Inventory Management will lead the strategic planning and execution of inventory management across multiple international locations, ensuring optimal inventory levels, reducing costs, improving efficiency, and ensuring that all components, parts, and materials necessary for solar energy projects are effectively managed and available. This role is critical to aligning the company's global supply chain strategy with the overall business objectives, particularly in a fast-growing renewable energy market. The ideal candidate will possess deep experience in supply chain management, inventory optimization, and leadership in a global, complex manufacturing environment.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Global Inventory Strategy:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive global inventory management strategy that supports business goals, including optimizing inventory levels and minimizing excess/obsolete inventory across multiple international locations.
- Develop and implement comprehensive inventory management strategies aligned with company goals and objectives.
- Monitor and analyze inventory performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
- Communicate inventory status, issues, and recommendations to senior management and other stakeholders.
Demand and Supply Planning:
- Collaborate with production, procurement, and logistics teams to align demand forecasting with supply chain capacity, ensuring the right inventory at the right time.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing, ensuring cost-effective procurement practices.
Inventory Optimization:
- Utilize advanced analytics and forecasting tools to continuously optimize inventory levels, reduce lead times, and improve order fulfillment efficiency.
- Implement and maintain inventory tracking systems, including ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) software.
- Establish inventory control systems and policies to ensure efficient operations and minimize inventory-related costs.
- Conduct regular audits to ensure inventory accuracy and integrity.
- Oversee the daily operations of the inventory management department, ensuring accurate and timely inventory records.
- Develop strategies to reduce excess and obsolete inventory, minimizing waste and cost.
- Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and project management teams to ensure the availability of necessary materials and components for solar projects.
Continuous Improvement:
- Lead initiatives to improve inventory accuracy, enhance warehouse efficiency, and implement best practices in global inventory management, using LEAN and Six Sigma methodologies.
Collaboration:
- Partner with cross-functional teams such as manufacturing, procurement, logistics, and finance to drive alignment and ensure seamless inventory flow across global sites.
- Work closely with suppliers and logistics providers to ensure timely delivery and accurate forecasting.
- Coordinate with procurement, logistics, and project management teams to ensure the availability of necessary materials and components for solar projects.
Risk Management:
- Identify and mitigate risks in the supply chain by developing contingency plans for inventory disruptions, geopolitical risks, or supply constraints.
- Monitor and analyze inventory performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
Technology & Automation:
- Oversee the implementation of inventory management systems (e.g., ERP, WMS) and automation tools to enhance tracking, visibility, and decision-making capabilities.
- Compliance:
- Ensure inventory management complies with regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry standards, including environmental and sustainability goals.
Team Leadership:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a global team of inventory professionals, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Conduct performance evaluations and set goals for the inventory management team.
Financial Impact:
- Analyze and report on key metrics related to inventory performance, such as inventory turnover, working capital, and cost reduction opportunities, presenting insights to senior leadership.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in inventory management, supply chain, or operations leadership, preferably in a manufacturing or renewable energy company.
- Proven experience in managing global inventory across multiple countries and regions.
- Strong proficiency and prior work experience with SAP ERP is required.
- Experience with WMS, and inventory forecasting systems; experience with system implementations is a plus.
- Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and driving operational excellence.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a focus on data-driven solutions.
- Proven leadership and team-building skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

Preferred qualifications:
- Knowledge of the solar energy industry and its supply chain dynamics is highly desirable.
- Certification in inventory management or supply chain management (e.g., APICS, CPIM, CSCP) is a plus.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
