In this role you will generate new business sales along with maintaining and building relationships with existing customers. Sales representatives are involved with the full sales cycle, calling on all buying influences including engineering, purchasing, quality assurance as well as senior management to generate opportunities and present pricing proposals. Must execute sales plan through interaction with customers, prospects, sustaining long-term relationships with key accounts and furthering Electro-Matic’s growth and development of an assigned territory.
This role will focus on sales in Western Michigan.
Essential Functions
- Manage existing accounts to increase sales revenue in alignment with overall goals.
- Identify new sales opportunities and follow up on new leads.
- Partner with inside sales support and administration to ensure day-to-day requirements are met.
- Travels throughout assigned territory to call on regular and prospective customers to solicit orders.
- Develops and maintains relationships with Customer at multiple levels, including engineering, purchasing, quality and senior management.
- Attends and conducts business at trade shows.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications and participating in professional societies.
- Responsible for the growth and development of the assigned markets.
- Quotes prices and credit terms and presents sales contracts for orders obtained.
Experience, Education and Skills
- Associate degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in electrical engineering; or three or more years' successful sales experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Four-year Electrical Engineering bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2+ years' experience within industrial outside sales
- Experience selling industrial automation components and solutions is strongly preferred
- A Valid Driver's License in good standing is required
- Occasional out-of-town travel required
- Travel may include overnight stays, weekend assignments, and international opportunities.
- Strong business, creative, and technical writing skills
- Proficiency in MS office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills
- Effective interpersonal, organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills
- Attention to detail and accuracy, and ability to multitask
