As a Corporate Actions Specialist, you will be responsible for processing and managing mandatory and voluntary corporate actions within a non-custody environment, with a strong focus on compliance, efficiency, and accuracy. Working closely with brokers, clearing and settlement participants, and custodians, you will ensure timely execution while maintaining adherence to all regulatory and company policies.

A key part of this role is applying tax and cost base knowledge to determine correct treatments for corporate actions, ensuring accurate reporting and reconciliation.

Key responsibilities

  • Processing Corporate Actions – Accurately process and reconcile mandatory and voluntary corporate actions, including dividends, distributions, share splits, rights issues, reconstructions, mergers, and buybacks.
  • Monitor & process - Monitor & process Corporate Action events over Unlisted Managed Funds as well as Listed securities both domestic and foreign
  • Tax and Cost Base Adjustments – Ensure the correct tax treatment is applied for corporate actions, including franking credits, return of capital, and capital gains tax impacts. Accurately adjust the cost base of securities in line with tax rulings and corporate action events.
  • Monitoring Announcements & Regulatory Updates – Track corporate action announcements, tax rulings, and regulatory changes to assess impacts on systems, processes, and reporting.
  • Corporate Action Reporting & System Updates – Maintain accurate records of corporate actions in Iress and internal administration systems, ensuring all relevant data is correctly recorded and reconciled.
  • Posting Corporate Action Events & Instructions – Enter and update corporate action events in the portal, collate instructions, and ensure timely submission to registries and relevant counterparties.
  • Reconciliation & Issue Resolution – Reconcile cash movements, security positions, and transactions, proactively identifying and resolving discrepancies while escalating time-sensitive or complex issues.
  • Stakeholder Management – Liaise with brokers, clearing and settlement participants, registries, custodians, and internal teams to ensure smooth corporate action processing and resolve queries.
  • Assisting with the Annual Tax Project – Process EOFY tax statements in the form of component reallocation across listed and unlisted securities as part of the EOFY tax project.

Key requirements

  • ·       Minimum 2 years’ financial services experience in related position
  • ·       Experience with Corporate Action processing
  • ·       Knowledge on Australian securities, Administration of Portfolios, including those held on direct HIN (Non Custody)
  • ·       Knowledge of Compliance monitoring framework
  • ·       Strong communication skills
  • ·       MS Excel- Intermediate/ advanced skills
  • ·       Knowledge of domestic and international trading execution and settlement.
  • It is preferred that the successful candidate has:
  • ·         Tertiary qualifications highly regarded
  • ·       Knowledge of IRESS products and services
  • Experience in IRESS IPS
