SENIOR DATA SCIENTIST
FinBe USA is a national auto lender that has been working with franchise and independent auto dealerships since 2007 to originate auto loans for applicants with varying credit circumstances.
ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Senior Data Scientist will be part of a growing credit risk team responsible for development, monitoring, validation, and enhancement of risk models used in originations, pricing, fraud collections and remarketing. The Senior Data scientist will also have an opportunity to use models in experimentation and decision making.
JOB DUTIES
· Develop, Validate, and enhance credit risk models using statistical modeling and machine learning.
· Frequently collaborate with external vendor partners to identify data sources relevant for model development and deployment.
· Perform statistical analysis to inform and aid in decision making process.
· Work with internal IT teams to identify relevant data sources for model development and deployment and enhance model outcomes by continuously making recommendations to improve data sources and quality.
· Architect and integrate model strategy to support business initiatives and risk-based pricing.
· Perform data manipulation and analysis using SQL, Python and Microsoft Excel.
· Develop models using logistic regression, linear regression, gradient boosting, deep learning, ensemble methods, competing risk, cox proportional hazard, survival, and other advanced algorithms.
· Identify and explain model deviations and aid decision making to enhance and/or rebuild models.
· Prepare presentation materials and present findings to senior leadership on regular basis.
· Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
· Experience in Consumer Lending (Auto Finance highly desired)
· Proficient in Python for statistical modeling and machine learning
· Proficient in experimental design, A/B testing and statistical tests
· Data exploration and analysis using SQL, Apache Spark, and Hive
· Experienced in Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, MLOps, GitHUb and API management.
· Experience with credit bureau data (Traditional and Alternative data sources)
· Demonstrated proficiency in using Microsoft Excel (Pivot tables, VLOOKUP’s)
· Effective communication and critical thinking skills with the ability to communicate hard technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team with the ability to work under tight deadlines and manage more than one assignment at a time.
· Advanced Degree Master’s or PhD in Statistics, Econometrics, Data Science, Operations research, Mathematics, Quantitative finance, or equivalent work experience.
· 3-5 years of prior experience as a data scientist in consumer lending.
· Ability to mentor and coach junior data scientists.
