Lab Assistant

The Science Lab Assistant shall support the Middle School Science team in laboratory and regular classroom work. In addition, the School Science Lab Assistant  will, under the direction and support of the teacher, provide high quality, relevant and on-site development assistance to students.  This includes being a co-advisor and substituting classes as necessary. Candidates who are available in UAE to join immediately, are encouraged to apply. 

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of current lab safety regulations

• Prior experience working in a science laboratory

• Ability to manage a science laboratory and relevant chemicals & equipment

• Genuine desire to work with children - exhibits patience and empathy when dealing with children

• Able to address and treat children with respect and dignity

• Willingness to learn and grow under instruction of teaching faculty and in a professional environment

• Ability to work individually and as a part of a team

• Experience working with children, preferably in a school environment

• Computer literate

• Good interpersonal and communication skills (especially in English)

• Organized, reliable, dependable, works well independently

 

SCIENCE LAB ASSISTANT RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Preparation of laboratory practicals, including set-up and breakdown as per teachers’ instruction, testing such labs and equipment beforehand so as to ensure a successful learning experience

• Maintenance, cleaning, and storage of equipment

• Safe storage and removal of harmful chemicals and equipment

• Ensure adequate supply of equipment and materials is always available

• Keep track of materials borrowed by teachers and students

• Assisting the teacher in supervision of laboratory practicals when needed

• Support for teachers and other faculty where needed, always keeping the best interests of the students in mind
