Position: Distribution & Maintenance Tech
Location: Memphis, TN
Salary Range: $16.00 - 24.00 hourly (based on experience)
Position Summary: This position is responsible for the facilities receiving, inventory and distribution requirements as for assigned West Cancer Center location. As well have some basic knowledge of Electrical/HVAC/Plumbing and general Maintenance. Work is performed under the general direction of the Manager, Maintenance & Distribution.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Receives deliveries daily and stocks them appropriately.
- Distributes deliveries to the appropriate departments.
- May be required to assist with offsite clinic functions.
- Assist setup lobby area for occasional seminars and symposium.
- Collects biohazardous containers in the clinical area and prepares for pick up by the waste management vendor.
- Basic knowledge of the fundamentals of a trade, sufficient to deal with basic service and repairs.
- Ability to work from drawings, diagrams, sketches and verbal instructions.
- Ability to organize tasks and maintain control of workflow.
- Possession of a valid driver’s license.
- Determines the nature of the problem and ensures that repairs at an apprentice level are completed in a timely and quality manner.
- Performs apprentice level maintenance incidental to system operations.
- Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
- Contacts maintenance vendors, as required.
- Escorts vendors and emergency personnel thru the facility.
- Ensures proper receipt and delivery of all shipments to the clinic.
- Delivers all food items required by the physicians’ pods and management.
- Assists the Manager, Maintenance & Receiving or Supervisor, Receiving & Distribution in coordinating the physical relocation/opening of satellite offices.
- Transports items to and from storage, as needed.
- Provides coverage, when requested, to other West Cancer Center locations.
- Maintains a professional approach respecting the dignity and confidentiality of employees, managers, patients and vendors.
- Interfaces internally with all physicians, management and staff.
- Interfaces externally with vendors, cleaning crew, biohazard waste pickup, delivery personnel, and repair personnel.
- Performs all other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications/Experience:
High School diploma or general education degree (GED); and 6 months related experience and/or training. Experience in a facilities/maintenance environment preferred. Must have a demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities, relate effectively and get results through others.
Must have excellent organization and follow-up skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent problem-solving skills, ability to organize and prioritize work assignments; ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; ability to analyze situations and respond in a timely manner; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships within West Cancer Center; ability to establish and implement new processes. Must be proficient in computer applications including Word, Excel, and e-mail. Additional hours may be required.
Work Environment/Physical Demands/Travel:
- The physical activities of this position may include squatting, bending, twisting, crawling, climbing, pushing, standing, hearing, walking, reaching, grasping, kneeling, stooping, and repetitive motion.
- Typical clinical environment with moderate noise level. May work 0-10% of the time near loud equipment (generator, HVAC units, hand tools, etc.).
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. 0-25% of the time. May lift more than 100 lbs. utilizing appropriate equipment.
- Ability to work with biohazard waste products and use special precautions for handling same.
- Ability to use precaution in handling dry ice, if needed.
- Ability to work 0-25% of the time exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
- Ability to read and understand documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, correspondence. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak and present information in small groups of customers, suppliers, or employees of the company.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions given in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in routine situations.
- Travel may be required. Use of personal vehicle for conducting clinic business is required.
