Systems Administrator - Data Center

About the job:

We are seeking a skilled and motivated Systems Administrator to join our data center team in Sines. This function will be responsible for maintaining the integrity, security, and efficiency of our data center operations.

Responsibilities:

**System Management:**
- Install, configure, and maintain server hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
- Monitor system performance and ensure system availability and reliability.
- Perform regular system backups and recovery processes.

**Network Administration:**
- Manage network infrastructure including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs.
- Ensure network security and performance by monitoring traffic and troubleshooting issues.
- Implement and maintain network policies, procedures, and standards.

**Security:**
- Maintain and enforce security policies to protect data center infrastructure and information.
- Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Respond to security incidents and breaches, implementing corrective actions.

**Maintenance and Support:**
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users and other IT staff.
- Maintain an inventory of hardware and software assets, ensuring proper licensing and documentation.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and upgrades.

**Disaster Recovery:**
- Develop and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity.
- Regularly test disaster recovery procedures and update them as necessary.

**Documentation and Reporting:**
- Maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, processes, and procedures.
- Generate regular reports on system performance, security incidents, and maintenance activities.

**Collaboration:**
- Work closely with other IT teams and departments to support organizational goals.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies if needed.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Proven experience as a Systems Administrator or similar role, preferably in a data center environment.
- Strong knowledge of system and network administration, including Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Solid understanding of network protocols, security, and best practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco, CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional) are a plus.
