Position Summary:
- The Engineering Manager oversees the technical activities and process for manufacturing Sheet Molding Compound (SMC).
- Responsible for tracking and closing open technical issues.
- Acts a liaison between the plant and customers, corporate, and Research & Development, communicating product specifications, changes, new product launches, and other related activities.
- Provides technical support to the plant and customers.
- Supports production with process documentations, improvements and performance tracking. Supports quality by defining standards for processes and materials.
- Supports maintenance with recommendations and standards for machine maintenance and maintenance intervals.
Duties include but are not limited to: - Manage and direct the equipment engineering functions of plant operations.
- Manage and direct the process engineering functions of plant operations.
- Lead continuous improvement teams and cost reduction efforts.
- Coordinate and direct SMC manufacturing and new product launch.
- Provide standards for disposition of non-conforming raw materials and SMC product.
- Budget and implement capital improvements for the facility.
- Monitor and report on engineering and technical support activities to plant management and corporate level managers.
- Develop, direct and implement the plant level change management process, including formulations, support documentation, and work instructions.
- Develop and approve purchase specifications for new raw materials and release specifications for SMC formulations.
- Assist Quality Manager in creation, oversight and maintenance of the control plan, FEMA, and process flow documentation.
- Assist Quality Manager in monitoring and reporting of supplier performance including supplier reviews and audits.
- Provide technical support to Quality Manager and suppliers for issues, improvements, raw material, and performance
- Perform internal quality audits to the ISO 9001:2015 requirement
- Administer production floor IT infrastructure and accounts.
Skills: - FactoryTalk (HMI, Batch, etc.)
- Rockwell Automation
- SQL (basic familiarity)
- Statistical Process Control
Education: - Bachelors of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field.
