As the PLS for the company, you will supervise land surveys, plan and assess the proposed field survey projects, gather field data using the proper survey equipment, and oversee the project survey team. Managing equipment logistics and travel-related budgets, Assisting in managing, and mentoring the survey team.

General Job Duties
- Communicate with architects, engineers, and construction personnel as needed during land development to verify geological and property boundary data and contribute to building design as needed
- Prepare two-dimensional maps and three-dimensional computer renderings of property features, such as boundary lines, geological points of interest, existing structures, water features, and utility lines
- Create reports and maps according to customer or project requirements containing information from field measurements, boundary markers, and topographical features
- Research historical maps, land records, previous survey results, and land title information as needed to compare and verify current measurements and resolve questions about boundary lines
- Review and approve project plans
- Handle all upgrades, OS migrations, hardware deployment, and status reports
- Provide daily support activities for desktop support, data network, and server management for project survey data
- Draft topographic, ALTA, and preliminary/final plats for the survey department utilizing Carlson (CADD embed) software
- Utilizing conventional and GPS equipment along with an office knowledge of survey reduction and reduction and data creation utilizing AutoCAD
- Perform work on multiple heavy highway/heavy civil site projects, that include cuts and fills, centerline layouts, and bridge work
- Used AutoCAD to design project layout, elevations, cut and fill according to project specs and design standards.
- Gather as-built information on completed projects
- Update and improve manually draft existing survey drawings using AutoCAD.
- Correspond with Operations, Estimating Team, and Project build Management Teams
- Other Duties as Assigned
Job Skills & Qualifications/Education Requirements:
- Professional Land Surveying license for State of NC Required
- Heavy civil construction survey experience Required
- Bachelor’s degree in surveying, surveying technology Preferred but no required
- Experience with AutoCAD, Carlson, Trimble & Topcon, Total Station Robotic Survey Equipment, and Machine GPS (Or similar survey equipment and software)
- Excellent ability to read and comprehend construction plans
- Ability to build TIN / BIM maps
- Knowledge or Certificate to Operate Drones Preferred
- Knowledge of geological description principles and methods
- Knowledge of applicable project specifications
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Must be detail-oriented, organized, focused, self-motivated, and possess a strong, good work ethic
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform essential job functions consistently, safely and successfully with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on the telephone
