How you’ll contribute to the team:
As a Journeyman Plumber at Howe, you will work on commercial and residential projects by preparing, fabricating, and installing plumbing and piping systems. Our Journeyman Plumbers act as trainers out in the field and help supervise apprentices and other licensed plumbers by providing feedback on their progress and performance. Each day and every job site may be different as you design and layout work, develop work lists to follow, and install plumbing and piping systems according to plans, specifications, and blueprints. You will also play a key part in maintaining Howe’s high-quality standards by promoting safety, teamwork, and cooperation.
What you’ll bring to the table:
Journeyman Plumbers are leaders out in the field who possess great communication skills but are also able to follow directions. You will be able to adapt quickly to change and work well with other contractors on the job site. A professional appearance is always expected at Howe. You will provide your own hand tools and will need to possess a valid driver’s license to commute to and from job sites as needed.
How you’ll qualify:
The ideal Journeyman Plumber will have at least 4 years of related field experience and will demonstrate strong skills and knowledge of the trade. To be considered a Journeyman, you must possess and maintain a current South Dakota state and Sioux Falls city plumbing license. You’ll stand out by having any additional training or related education. Journeyman Plumbers are expected to obtain additional training and education as required. A high school diploma or equivalent is the minimum educational requirement.
What to expect in the field:
Working in the plumbing and piping industry can be physically demanding. As a Journeyman Plumber, you must have the physical strength to lift/carry/push/pull up to 50lbs, and have the balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. Journeymen must also be able to work at height, on ladders or lifts, and in all weather conditions for prolonged periods of time. If offered a position with the company, you will be required to undergo and pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical, and background check.
