We seek an experienced Sr. Data Engineer to manage and optimize our vector databases and data stores, such as Elastic Search and AWS OpenSearch. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cloud platforms and SRE principles and experience leading data infrastructure migrations. This role is critical in maintaining our data systems' reliability, performance, and scalability.
What you’ll do:
- Manage and maintain vector databases and data stores, including Elastic Search and AWS OpenSearch.
- Lead the migration of data infrastructure to modern, scalable solutions.
- Ensure the reliability, performance, and scalability of data infrastructure.
- Implement and manage cloud-based solutions, leveraging AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud platforms.
- Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices to maintain and improve system availability and performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand data needs and provide robust data solutions.
- Monitor and optimize data storage and retrieval processes.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data infrastructure.
- Develop and maintain documentation for data systems and processes.
Skills and knowledge you should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience managing vector databases and data stores, including Elastic Search and AWS OpenSearch.
- Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) practices.
- Proven experience leading data infrastructure migrations.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues.
- Strong understanding of data architecture and data management best practices.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Bonus points (nice skills to have, but not needed):
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with other data stores and databases.
- Certification in cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Experience with automation tools and scripting languages.
Targeted Base Salary Range: $117,000 to $178,000
The base salary range listed above is for candidates located in the U.S., including the New York City metro area.
