Good American is the first fully inclusive fashion brand that celebrates all dimensions of female power. Offering quality, style, and substance in every size — 00-32, we are committed to challenging industry norms by empowering all women to feel sexy and confident no matter their size or shape. The brand was launched in October 2016, by Emma Grede and Khloé Kardashian, to empower all women to celebrate their bodies with confidence by offering high-quality designs in all sizes. What started as the largest denim launch in history, has evolved into an iconic and inclusive fashion line of denim, ready-to-wear, swim, shoes and activewear.

The Director of Visual Merchandising is an exciting opportunity for a creative leader to shape the visual identity of our brand and elevate the customer experience across all retail touchpoints.  You will be responsible for overseeing the strategy, concepting, design and execution of all in-store visual merchandising elements across the company’s retail network. This includes creating visually compelling window and in-store displays that align with the brand’s aesthetics, drive sales, and enhance the overall customer experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of denim trends, customer behavior, and retail environments, and be skilled at leading a team to deliver on brand and sales objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Visual Merchandising Strategy & Execution:
  • Lead the development of seasonal visual merchandising strategies that reflect the brand’s identity and storytelling and are aligned with sales goals and customer expectations. Ensure consistent execution across all retail locations, including multi-brand partners.
  • Store Design & Layout:
  • Work closely with store design teams to ensure that layout plans maximize product visibility and flow. Design seasonal and promotional displays that draw attention, create engagement, and encourage sales conversion.
  • Team Leadership & Development:
  • Mentor a team of visual merchandising managers in stores and external vendors. Provide direction, inspiration, and training to ensure high standards of visual presentation across all stores.
  • Collaboration with Buying & Marketing Teams:
  • Partner with buying and merchandising teams to ensure the visual display of products aligns with the latest collections, trends, and promotions. Collaborate with marketing to integrate campaigns, new product launches, and seasonal initiatives into visual strategies.
  • Visual Standards & Guidelines:
  • Establish and maintain clear visual merchandising standards and guidelines for store teams to follow. Regularly audit stores to ensure adherence to these standards and continuously improve the in-store experience.
  • Trend Analysis & Market Research:
  • Stay on top of fashion, retail, and visual merchandising trends, particularly within the denim and apparel space. Use this knowledge to inform visual strategies and create innovative, trend-forward displays.
  • Budget & Resource Management:
  • Oversee the visual merchandising budget, ensuring projects are completed within budgetary constraints while delivering high-quality results. Manage resources effectively, including time, materials, and external partners.
  • Reporting & Analytics:
  • Analyze sales data and store feedback to measure the effectiveness of visual merchandising strategies. Adjust tactics as needed to optimize performance, sales, and customer engagement.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 8+ years in visual merchandising, retail management, or related fields, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in fashion retail, particularly in denim or similar product categories, is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record of driving visual strategies that increase customer engagement and sales.
  • Skills & Expertise:
  • Strong creative and aesthetic sensibility with an ability to translate brand vision into visual concepts.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a team.
  • Strong understanding of retail sales dynamics and how visual merchandising influences consumer behavior.
  • Proficient in design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and retail analytics tools.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple departments.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Visual Merchandising, Fashion Design, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
