Senior Site Supervisor

In Person at our Rochester, NY

The Opportunity

Site Supervisors help prepare our participants, people with recent criminal convictions, for securing employment. They support, supervise, and train work crews of 6-8 participants, while ensuring a safe work environment, excellent levels of customer service to our partners, and quality of work product / service delivery. Site Supervisors create uplifting work environments for our participants that ensure their safety, provide on-the-job coaching, encourage and empower team members to seize each opportunity for building knowledge and skills and foster engagement and accountability across the crew. 

Who We Are

The Center for Employment Opportunities (CEO) provides employment services to people recently released from incarceration. Across the United States, 8,000-9,000 people participate in CEO each year, transitioning to employment that supports themselves, their families, and their communities.

What began as a demonstration project of the Vera Institute of Justice in the 1970s to address employment barriers facing the formerly incarcerated following release in New York City has grown into the leading reentry employment organization in the country, where over 30,000 formerly incarcerated individuals have secured full-time employment since 1996.

  • You enjoy supporting others to solve routine challenges; personally you’re mechanically inclined, able to diagnose issues with equipment and propose solutions to solve/address

  • You exercise compassion toward the team you’re leading and balance this with a straightforward approach that ensures you meet the needs of your customers

The Nitty Gritty Qualifications

  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record
  • Must be able to: Consistently lift and move objects up to 75 pounds; stand, kneel, bend, and climb in order to complete projects; work outdoors; walk or stand for long periods of time; drive a 12 passenger van with an attached trailer; operate a smartphone
  • Previous safety training preferable, though training will be provided to hired candidate
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in a related field (eg, construction, landscaping, building maintenance, grounds maintenance, land surveying)
  • Completed advanced certifications or specialized training relevant to the work or equipment used on the work crew. Including:
    • Baseline required trainings: First Aid/ CPR, OSHA-10, Bloodborne Pathogens
    • Completed most or all of the following training:
    • Chainsaw training
    • Forklift Certificate
    • Contractors or General Contractor License (eg, C-27 Landscaping, C-33 Painting)
    • Hazwopper
    • OSHA-30 General Industry
    • Specialized Equipment/Tool Training
    • Training and Development to Be a More Effective Manager

Additional Responsibilities

These responsibilities are representative, but not all-inclusive, of the responsibilities of this role:

Crew Oversight

  • Ensure customers’ work orders are completed to a high standard on a daily basis
  • Establish and maintain positive staff morale through modeling sound leadership and teamwork
  • Assign job duties to crew members and set reasonable goals for completion
  • Monitor crew members on job performance and productivity, providing appropriate feedback and/or additional training as needed
  • Maintain a line of sight of all participants
  • Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations and by reporting any matters that threaten the smooth operation of the training crew to your supervisor

Administrative Support

  • Comply with company time and attendance (T&A) processes, which includes ensuring that participants accurately record their work time, ensuring that participants receive any required rest breaks and meal periods, and timely reviewing and approving participant time records on a daily basis.
  • Document all participant and employer contact, activities, and outcomes in our case management system (Salesforce)
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities assigned from time to time

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $28.2418/hr. In an effort to be both equitable and transparent, CEO's compensation philosophy considers a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, experience, internal equity, and home office location in making a final determination on our salary offer.

We recognize that salary is a part of the overall compensation package and also provide a comprehensive benefits package, including medical and dental coverage, as well as professional development opportunities and training, including regular training opportunities in Motivational Interviewing (MI). MI is one evidence-based skill that reentry and human service professionals can utilize when supporting participants to achieve their goals.
